Delays Octavia VRS IV

Featured Replies

Hi I currently drive a VRS 245 on PCH and ordered a VRS IV last November. Dealer has now informed me that delivery has slipped from July 2022 to sometime in 2023 maybe! Just wondered if anyone was in the same boat and what experiences were or if anyone has had any other advice. Thanks

Ordered my Octavia vRS iV in feb 2022 and was told build week 38 which now has been delayed to week 49 (last time i spoke to my dealer). I think more delays will come and hopefully i will recieve the car sometime in 2023, the earlier the better.

At least you had a build week! I just keep getting no build week assigned yet. Fingers crossed it comes in sooner rather than later.

is it just not dealers not telling the truth?knowing full well the dates they are giving customers will not happen?yes there maybe some may get there cars on time but must of us are just sitting and waiting and waiting for there cars.good luck

I think your dealer has not been straight with you, there have been delays with the iV model of over a year for a few months, so it is not clear to me why it has taken until now to let you know.   I suspect the dealer has ‘forgotten to tell you’ so you didn’t cancel months ago.

This is the problem with PCH (and PCP) they have an end date, which doesn’t work well when replacements can be upto 18 months away.   You might want to look at getting an extension, or buying your current car from hireCo

I’d happily keep the current vehicle but I’m not paying £500 for a service, new spark plugs and DSG oil change for the privilege 🤣

The spark plugs are only a recommendation @ 4 years / 40,000 miles and plenty cars on service plans do not have them changed.

If an Oil & Filter change is due at a Variable / Flexible interval it will need doing as will the DSG at 40,000 miles.

?

Has the VAQ had a Service / Oil change at 30,000 miles?

Yeah it’s had full yearly service. Done 10k a year pretty much. I don’t know how the PCH works and whether the recommendations are a requirement under PCH contract or not.

The car could have been on Variable / Flexible servicing as it came from the factory and 24 month / 18,000-20,000 mile servicing.

A Skoda Main Dealer Full Yearly service is not much if an Oil & Inspection Service & Extended Scope each 3 years.

?

If your car has a VAQ front diff was that serviced?

It had an extended scope on year 2. It has a VAQ and no mention of it ever being serviced or me being asked for it to be done from Skoda. It’s the DSG oil change and spark plug replacement that is the sting for what could be 5 months of driving. If I don’t need to have them done to honour the contract requirement then happy days!

Lots of people might end up with Skoda Approved Used cars with a VAQ diff that has not been serviced.

While doing the Upselling at the Service desk the staff do not know what are important compared to advisable.

That is how it rolls with Skoda that can not just set out what is a Scheduled Service item rather than a 'recommended ones'.

Will ask what is the minimum required to keep the contract honoured and let you know

Unfortunately if you request an extension, then contractually it is usually your problem to have it serviced (if due).

Of course you are not obliged to have have it serviced and can hand it back during service countdown.  But if you hand it back with service due indicated (or missing service) they will just charge you to do it (at top end rates) at end of contract (or more likely invoice you, and claim it by direct debit)

i handed my last car in just before my 4 year lease was coming to the end.i thought i would be clever in doing this it was due a service at over 400 pounds ,a new set of 4 new tires in which it would of cost around 550/600 pounds.if only i knew  about  the delay i was going have,i would of paid for all of that and extended my lease another year and i would of saved money in doing that.

Spark plugs £105? That's taking the P.

I can buy them online for about £10 each.

I personally don’t think the customer should be paying for maintenance on a car which the should not be keeping. The only reason I’m having to extend this contract is due to Skoda delays. They have got you both ways.

Technically not true, you were not obliged to choose a replacement from an organisation that couldn’t deliver in time.  You could have chosen a car elsewhere.  If you were misled about timescales that is separate dispute.

But as it sounds like your ordered car won’t be until some time in 2023 you have a choice of requesting an extension to existing contract, or handing it back and finding something else available and cancelling your order.

I know I wasn’t obliged to, but I ordered the vehicle as they said it would be here in time to allow me to give the old one back. Then three months before delivery is due, they say actually it’s delayed to some point in 2023. Doesn’t really leave the customer with many options as most if not all new cars are on 6 month wait at least. I’m in discussions and will keep you posted.

good luck but i think i fear it will fall on deaf ears.

@TheWanderer re spark plugs.  More taking the pith with those that have 3 cylinder TSI,s.   Then there are those with an engine that needs a litre or so less oil than other cars need.   Funny how those that get less labour time and parts are paying the same total price including 20% vat.  Even buying a meal you might have full portion offered or pensioner / child servings.    It is Fixed Priced Servicing and Maintenance at Participating dealers.    FIXED to assist the Dealerships participating in taking the Michael.

Your current vRS is on PCH (or a lease) so its going to be financed by VWFS.  If you have another car on order with any other VWFS company they will extend the lease indefinitely for you until the new car arrives.  It does mean that you are responsible for any servicing and as its out of warranty now, fixing any issues that occur with the car.  I was given the same option when my Audi was due to be returned but luckily didn't need it as my vRS turned up on time.  It sounds like if you service it now you'll have it for almost 12 months.  Maybe they will give you a discount on a service plan and free extended warranty if you ask nicely?

There’s another thread on here about delays, they are widespread and some people have been waiting over a year for their cars already.

I ordered my VRS iV estate in September, am being told it’ll be here in early July but I don’t expect to see it this year if I’m honest.
