Skoda fabia front brake discs

Featured Replies

Hello

I've got a skoda fabia 1.4 tdi 70bhp 2006 model. Just trying to find out the correct front vented discs and pads sizes to fit.

There seems to be 239mm, 256mm and 288mm for front discs and pads options.

Thanks

It's an ATE brake system, so I would go with ATE brake pads.

Build code 9U1 means with wear indicator.

Build code 9U0 means without wear indicator.

ATE 13.0460-7117.2 with wear indicator

Also @Kelly_Heroes Edit inline, bold. There is only one wear indicator, on the LH front inner pad.

I looked on gsf car parts found the front 256mm discs. The gsf car parts site shows sizes of pads but not for the discs sizes they fit.

So I looked on euro car parts and there brake pads show what size discs they fit on so you can cross reference to gsf car parts same sizes.

I've had prices of brakes on the front £90 in a lot of local motor factors for front discs and pads. Then to fit them anther £45 to £60.

This is why I'm buying my own and fitting them for £50 easy job to do as well.

I checked the parts and the front 256mm discs are fine.

The front pads are L 146mm H 54.65mm T 19.5mm. The tolerance Length 146mm Height 56mm Thickness 20mm max you able to fit.

The brake pads make sure all 4 have the fitting clips that clip in the caliper piston and caliper housing.

Just so other people looking at cross referencing different brand makes. just doing this I got the price from £90 to £52 every bit helps.

I fitted the new front discs and pads yesterday they all fit on well and a big difference in the braking. I used red rubber grease and re greased the slider guides big difference the car stops in a straight line. I also cleaned the caliper and carriors with wire brush and screw divers flat ones. This is to remove dirt, brake dust and old metal to stop any going on the new brakes effecting them or getting between any parts. It's well worth cleaning up a bit and doing the red rubber grease as with age needs doing.

I did buy a 21 kit brake caliper rewind kit it makes it so much easier to do the job now no messing about. The old pads were very low and old discs warn a bit to so had to rewind both brake calipers back a lot. This is where the brake caliper rewind kit saves a lot of time and messing about.

No wind back needed on the front callipers, just press back.

Now if you have rear disc brakes, then you would need to rewind the pistons.

Mine had to be re winded back they where solid to move. I wasn't using bars or anything else end up damaging rubbers. There sometimes easy to push back but when doing these 2 it wasn't that easy.

A G-clamp works well on front caliper pistons. You can't 'rewind' front caliper pistons as there's nothing to 'wind'.
