Superb Estate Mk2 rear caliper Carrier bolt M14 spline - what is best tool?

Featured Replies

I have just changed the disks on my Mk2 1015 Superb Estate.  The fronts were fine and the rear left was difficult getting to the M14 splined bolts to remove the caliper carrier.  However the left hand top bolt is impossible to get a ratchet on the M14 spline to 1/2" socket.  I'm sure there is a better tool.  Has anyone got the answer please?

Thank you

Nick

12" extension and on a ramp  with a breaker bar then ratchet

Doing it on the floor is hard as you have no space

I use this but the 1st time of undoing them using this socket I had to use a wobble drive extension and a flex head ratchet ( long)

Now just use a spanner on it like in pic and link another spanner to get some extra leverage

This might be better than the chrome 1/2" drive XZN (spline) bit socket M14 if you want to use a spanner on it. You can use a 24mm spanner on this Hazet 990S-14

Yeah that would probably be better, I have seen a shallow one since I bought mine which also would have been better.
Like mentioned, it’s the top bolt that is the problem. Once the socket is on, the suspension arm is basically in the way

For difficult bolts with limited access for long wrenches, I've used a jack on the end of the spanner to get them loosened.
