Found the run. The start is utterly crazy and so addictive to watch. I would love to know how many Gs the driver is feeling.

  • I think I saw 1.48 to 60mph. Certainly a sub 8 1/4:       Matt's language and responses were quite telling! 😁   Gaz

I watched it this afternoon amanda ,what a machine that is ,you can visibly see its so much quicker than the rest of the field ,the driver has to keep his eyes wide open there wasnt time for him to blink 👍

The presenters seemed to think that Jenson Button's Rally-X car was not suited to getting up the hill quick, it certainly was.

I still can't get over the mini Batmobile. I know that EVs have a party piece of short term acceleration, but the lightweight and incredible downforce of the McMurty is astonishing, even compared to old school racers. It could do with flames out of the back, as it looks like it's jet propelled with the dust plume it drags around with itself. I suspect it doesn't have a great range though :D

Btw does anyone else think the Travis Hoonigan thingy looks like a Lancia Delta?

Chuffin' heck that was quick! 😎

The front looks vaguely like a love child between a Lancia Delta and an Audi Quattro, whilst the rear looks very, very Lancia Delta. The weird air brakes made me laugh though

Road cars that might or might not excite at UK NSL's which is where they will mainly be driven in the UK.

@ColinD should maybe look more into EVing a Classic Skoda.

Crowd funded maybe.

If I can find a good base… I’d be more than tempted.

just tried the new config tool and the packs are annoying. Certainly when comparing to other Ev marques, even in “house”.

I’m certainly not excited about Skodas offering atm.

an electric classic I am ;)

would push me to the diesel van for weekend though 😞

There's a whole thread on here (in the classics section I think) from a chap who EV'd a Favorit.

?

Which world record for the 1/4 mile has he broken?

There are road legal cars that have been quicker.

There are quicker production cars that were on road legal tyres which that was not on.

incredible downforce

So the Carwow video explains it, it's got air-sucking fan like an inverse hovercraft. No wonder it's got incredible downforce. Give it more seal we might be able to see it drive up a wall.

On that basis, I'm personally more impressed with VW ID R that achieved a time close to this car without the downforce vacuum cleaner trickery.

But still, 1.4s 0-60 acceleration is mental.

It is the typical Carwow over exaggeration. No official verification and no two-way run. It takes nothing away from the McMurty though. Amazing machine. I can't wait to see what the road car can do, especially on a hot lap around a track (even if it can't make a whole lap of the 'Ring' at max attack).

I'll take the plain jane wolf in sheep clothing.

Went to look at the byd seal. Very nice. But why they made it a saloon we'll never know. Totally impractical for almost anyone, including golf playing execs.

Nice brakes on the 3.6 version though. Suspect one of these would be a lot of fun in rural Wales on a quiet night.

I saw one of these briefly earlier today. it does look pretty good.

im just not convinced yet about byd as a brand... a stupid number of their "sales" are parked in fields in china to get the grant money.

and werent they effectively kicked out of the European market a couple of yrs ago as their ncap testing was utterly abysmal?

i kinda hope they prove me wrong though! better looking than teslas and no money going to elon...

OT.

But i have new seen a few people charging their new BYD,s and they were cars leased from Motability.

They will get a good few thousand sold to them, as will the other manufacturers of EV,s because they must be letting them buy them very cheaply.

I saw my first BYD Seal yesterday in the car park I use for work - looked to be a decent bit of kit from a quick once over and quite good in black.

Obviously this was just based on obeservation rather than anything like a pukka look / test drive!
