Cruise Control Retrofit - Fabia TDi

Featured Replies

Hi guys and gals,

Found this forum a little while ago - quite a lot of interesting stuff!

Anyways, back to topic - I'm thinking of having cruise control fitted by the Awesome GTi chaps up north as I'll be in that area shortly.

A couple of questions for you:

How would this affect my Skoda warranty? I'm not having a remap done at the moment (wish I could but my insurance costs would kill me  ), so they'll only be unlocking that bit of code on the ECU I guess.

Has anyone got any experience of these guys &/or this retrofit?

Cheers,

BFG

P.S. I've had my Fabia for 5 months, it's done 10k, and I can't see anything stopping me piling a lot of miles onto it!! Brilliant! :drive:

Hi,

as an alternative why not have our own Briskoda cruise control fitted by our own K(big K).

He fitted out 3 of our members already (all Octys) for

AFAIK there is a problem with retrofitting CC to furbies. It's not a technical thing, it's just that the gap between the bottom of the windscreen and the bulkhead is too small to get a hand in to fit the wiring loom :(

I've been informed by Mr_K that a retrofit cruise control to a Fabia is a real nightmare... Which is why I decided to go for a remote c/l install instead, which is a lot easier.

I'm off to Jabba with my TDI in a couple of days, and I'll report how it is to get yiour juices flowing - re: insurance - get hold of Liverpool Victoria - very reasonable people, and although my new insurance will be

I've piled 47K onto mine in 2 1/2 years and have been very happy for 99% of that time.
New members may wish to know that the other 1% has been exhaustively documented, dissected and analysed on Briskoda. Most has been down to 'finger and thumb-type trouble' rather than the car per se. rolleyes.gif

:p :p :p

I wasn't referring to my dis-maintenance or little self ****-ups. :D - more to the probs with the turbo, marshalls, and little niggles like the door lock barrel. Everything else has been pretty good.

You're disavowing all knowledge of the tyres then jason?

And in the grand scheme of things they would come to an itsy bitsy bit more than 1% for most of us! :)

Nope  - That's what I meant by the "Marshalls" - definitely comes under the 1% of unhappy times with my car.

I think its what American Intelligence (wooohooo Oxymoron alert) call "Plausible Deniability".

I think Geoff is questioning the fact that you put the tyres in with the "not my fault" stuff!

But surely not as effective at maintaining a constant speed?! :p

Rob.

Rob.

That's 1 major drawback, yes :D

:p - well, I'm not a lazy bu99er and can maintain a constant (ish) speed in my car by keeping my foot in the same position for hours on end. :D

cc would be nice, but is non essential - bit like remote central locking I guess?

I find that a standard house brick, carefully balanced on the accelerator pedal, is a good substitute for this Cruise Control malarky ;)

I find the most comfortable position when I'm doing motorway driving is to extend my right leg fully, which neatly wedges the accelator pedal between the sole of my shoe and that little plastic thing in the footwell.

Unfortunately, if i were to extend my right leg fully, it would go throuth the floor and scrape on the road, thus incurring frequent and expensive repairs to my Reeboks. :(

I guess you must've been picked up on a roadside camera:

Unfortunately not, that's one of our international members as the vehicle in the picture is clearly left-Hand drive.

Not guilty, your honour ;)

So that's what Q looks like - been wondering what all the comments were about!

And therefore the picture is inadmissible as evidence :)

Can't possibly be Q.......too much hair. ;)

I shall go and hide now.
