Normal ones, unless you have Stop/Start (not stated), when you need AGM and to code the new battery into the car.

Yes.

Thanks for reply Ken.

The 15 plate £0 tax is stop/start.
How do you code a new battery into the car?

Via the OBDII port.

Obdeleven can do it.

A good tyre/battery shop should have a device.

It might only be an EFB ( 027 ) in the Citigo with stop/start not an AGM.

Should have either EFB or AGM marked on the top of the battery.

Non stop / start one is normally a 002L but a 012 will fit.

This is more powerful at 50-54Ah compared to 40-45Ah for the 002L.

You will find the bigger one is only a couple of £'s more so worth fitting.

You just need to move the battery clamp bolt one hole further out.

No.

Dead wrong; the radio is coded, but the code is normally held in the body convenience module and input automatically when the ignition is turned on following a battery disconnection.

Correct, but for the average person after swapping the battery over they don't need to enter a code to get the radio working.

That is interesting.  SO, if the code is inputted automatically upon connection..... what is the purpose of the code.?   I must be missing something, some logic ??

Simples; the code for your car stereo head is held by your car's BCM and no other. The radio simply won't work without recoding if it is put into, say, my car.

Ah, right, I can see the logic there. Thank you

My 2018 SEAT Mii Design (59 BHP) has stop-start and is still on the original (EFB) battery, as below.

I understand Carista is capable of coding any replacement battery.

Varta are good batteries. Looked after that battery may go 8-9 years.

Varta and Bosch are the same, FWIW.

Agreed and the ones fitted new to the vehicles are of a higher quality than the identical unit sold on the OEM market, something I had always suspected which was confirmed by a battery manufacturing expert who used to be on this forum.

IMO its worth looking after and coaxing the maximum life out of the original fitment battery as it should/can have double the life of any replacement barring any accidental severe discharge and even then its likely to be damaged far less by that than a replacement.

i;ve got a golden oldie 2004 Furby, and on mine, the radio code is held in the ECU, and there is no need to recode radio after battery removal/disconnection. Perhaps a read of the manual will make things clear???

I have disconnected the batteries on my Citigo, Fabia and Panda and can confirm that you don't need to enter any radio code afterwards.

Thanks, AG Falco

After 9 years and 6 months our original battery has died.  Replaced with a Bosch S4 E05 640A 60Ah -EFB.  I thought the old one was failing because the Stop Start failed so glad to say it now works again.

Yes, the conditions have to be perfect for stop/start to work. Need a good battery, in the winter/colder months heater can take its toll, add demister, back window heater, then add radio, and the s/s may falter sometimes. I use it a lot but sometimes I turn it off, especially if I know the stop isn’t going to be for too long.
