I think the 145 width means the 145/80/r18 won’t  fit under the boot floor and  raise the boot carpet slightly . From other posts though it looks like the standard 125 tyre available is about 6% smaller than the wheels on my car. Given that the 125 is provided by  skoda when buying the full kit, and that it’s only ever going to be on the car for a few miles, if at all, on balance I think I’m going to go with the 125/70/r18. Thanks for all the advice though. Who knew this subject was so complicated 😀
