Websites options to do a detailed VIN look up??

Featured Replies

On my previous couple of BMWs, you could do a simplistic VIN lookup and see what options were spec’d on your car when built.

There were lots of websites and the info easy to get your hands on.

I’ve been through the forum but all the VIN lookup services for the Skoda are either now defunct, only show high level info or charge a hefty fee.

Is there a reputable website that will show the options on my car?

Thanks in advance, Matt.

erwin is the offical site - costs £7 for 1 hour to get a decent bit of data.

Or the skoda connect app has some stuff once you link the car to it.

Search "VIN skoda decoder" on ebay, to find a seller charging about 3 Euros for all of the car's build codes.

Once you have the car's build codes, you can see a Skoda parts catalogue on "LLLParts Skoda" to find what parts the car left the factory with, such as springs, shock absorbers, brakes, etc.

Thanks buddy. Just ordered from him. Thank you so much everyone for the advice.

I would have followed @ApertureS advice and paid the fee extra pounds for the information, and you could have gotten wiring diagrams and repair information etc.

I would have posted this earlier, but had to go out.

I used this one, but as you say, it looks like they're not doing new vehicles just now.

You only get 3 queries per IP address.

At least the site is still up.

Another vote for Erwin Skoda, plus u can also download all the workshop manuals (PDF) while ur there.

Very useful to have if ur the tinkering type.

I agree with @ApertureS, the information you can download in 1 hour is substantial. I downloaded 79 files (see the folder structure attached), that included, service manuals, parts and vehicle specific information. Well worth the $A11 it cost me.

Been on the site and registered but cannot get it to accept my credit card. I keep getting the message (The combination of street 1 and street 2must not contain only numbers. Some of the functionalities youwould like to acquire can either not be used or cannot be used with the browser currently in use). I'm using Firefox which the site says is ok. Anyone any ideas.?

Does your home address contain numbers only for both Street 1 Street 2 values as error suggests?

I have used Firefox no problem myself.

For my credit card which I imagine they are checking against, Street 1 has number and street name. No entry for street 2. Which i would say is normal for address. Only line 1, number and street name then onto town/city etc

Maybe you need an entry in line 2 then, (cannot recall as it's been a while)

Do you have a local area designation you can input?

I had thought of that, but that seems to be so picky. Most addresses are 1 Anystreet, Anytown, Anycounty, postcode. I'll logon to my CC and add my local area to see if it makes a difference.

Never found it this hard to give someone money. 😲

Didn't work. Credit card picks up address from postcode and that doesn't show the area in town

Weirdly ive been having the same issue but with asdatyres today, its a very odd one, for some reason its saying card isnt registered at this address when it always has been.

Given @ApertureS also reported some card issue's, perhaps you can wait a few days and try again.

Cue X-Files theme tune, something strange going on here.

I read recently that BMW are now contacting owners and asking whether they would like some of the inoperative factory fitted options switched on. For which they then charge a monthly fee!!

I think some other manufacturers are also doing the same.

I mean yeah it’s the way forward for all manufacturers. Easier on production lines and means a constant cash flow even after the original purchase. Also means for the hackers and retrofitters out there that we can probably end up turning everything on without a time limit. And it will still only be certain things that are done, they won’t fit absolutely everything. But even so, not sure what it has to do with a detailed vin print out :D

I think I'd prefer if Skoda focused on making sure some of the features I've already paid for actually work 😂

Tried to do this - wouldn't let me, said I'd need to contact agents for SKODA in Australia. Have emailed SKODA AU, will have to see if they can help
