Drivers side light bulb 1.9tdi removal

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone, new to the group. My Roomster 3 1.9tdi has blown drivers side side light bulb. My big hands dont fit in to change the bulb. Tried most things but just cant get my hands in. Anyone else tried changing these bulbs? Easy on passenger side but fuel filter housing is in the way. Have seen 2 torque screws low down that hold the holder in place is this the way to do it? Thank you, i feel embarrassed asking about a bulb replacement but its driving me nuts!

I'm guessing it's the diesel filter that's in the way? If it's anything like a fabia. A long set of needle-nose pliers and a long, slim flat screwdriver will work where fat hands fail.

As @StevesTruck has said or the official way is this...

On vehicles with diesel engines, the fuel filter and its holder must
be removed and placed to the side in order to facilitate an easier
access to the bulb for the low beam light on the right headlight (do
not detach hoses
) ⇒ Engine; Rep. gr. 20 . The cap in the wheelhouse
liner can also be removed for better handling.

I have had to move airboxes a little to one side, or fuel filter etc, sometimes you have to remove a few pieces.

Although I'll freely admit I paid Halfords to change one on a 1.9TDI Ibiza once.

It was dark, ****ting down with rain, that corner of the engine bay in an Ibiza is way tighter than on a Fabia. I'd got a decent shirt on and I knew the boost hose was covered in oil.

So yeah, sitting in the car in the dry having a coffee while he got soaked though and covered in oil, in the dark, 10 minutes before home time was probably the best £7 I ever spent.

Anyone know how many torque screws hold the filter case in place? i can see 2. if its just the 2 then shouldnt be too bad with an extension on my ratchet. looks like a T45?

Can you get your engine code off your V5?

Hint, under section 4, vehicle details - line P.5 (engine number) - first 4 characters of engine number.

Not sure if you managed to sort your issue out yet?

It might be 3 to remove.

@Warrior193 odds are his will be the 3 digit engine code, they added 4 later on.

So could be 3 or 4 on V5

Yes did it this morning. had to undo 2 nuts that held water bottle so i could release and get to the 3 bolts that held the fuel filter case and hold everything out the way with a bar rather than disconnect. Horrendous design and you will need T45 bits Thanks all for your input much appreciated

Thanks for taking the time to post back, and with pictures for the next person with sausage fingers (like me also) that needs to perform the task.

Appreciated!
