OEM running boards - question about corrosion protection

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I've ordered the OEM running boards for my kodiaq. The assembly will be carried out by myself.

The manual says:

Quote

Before the seal (N) is fitted onto the running board web plate, the edge of this web plate
must be treated with corrosion protection agent along its entire length (this is covered by
the seal). Use cavity preservative for this (order no. D 329 215 M1)

D 329 215 M1 seems to be a 400ml spray can. Does anyone have experience with this original corrosion protection and can say something about the quality and long term durability? I could not find anything about this product.

As I have a can of Mike Sanders Corrosion Protection Grease (link to product) here I'm asking myself if this can be used instead of the OEM protection. Maybe it's even better? Anyone have advice?

Thanks in advance

I'm not familiar with the Mike Sanders product, but the info sheet I downloaded from their website suggests that it shouldn't be used with rubber. This would make it unsuitable for your task.

Don't do what some people do and choose not to apply it...
