Hi all, I was hoping some of you could answer me a couple of questions.:)

I am due to have a custom re map in august. The car currently has a cai, samco tip and intercooler waterspray fitted, and now I am looking at the exhaust, which brings me to my first question.

1. Has anybody had any success with de cating the standard exhaust, or do I have to go down the miltek/blueflame etc, route?

2. Also is it a good idea to uprate the fuel pump before the re map?

I am looking/hoping to get around the 220 to 225 bhp mark and then i'll probably leave it there(wife, kids, mortgage, beer fridge to stock up etc etc)

Oh well thats it, hope to get somebodys 2 pence worth anyway! cheers:thumbup:

1) the downpipe and cat are a single unit...you'll have to cut the cat out and replace with a sleeve....remember cat is mandatory come MOT time. ColinD has/had a decat of this manner...I think. The decat will give some gains....bigger bore dp and sports cat definately gives more torque.

2) no need to uprate fuel pump just for a remap...for bigger turbo it is recommended.

You should get the output from the mods you have with the remap.....I did without the waterspray and with a Milltek dp/sports cat.

Thankyou Sir.

The de cat pipe in question is a replacement down pipe on fleabay at the moment. It looks like it is interchangeable.

The main reason I am looking into it is that my exhaust is good, condition wise seems daft to skip it if I can help it( i.e put stainless sports on when it rots),

And I work in a garage with ramps, so changing the pipe annually shouldn't pose much of a problem.:)

Just be sure to go with a map that disables the post cat lambda sensor so you don't get the emissions light on.

Will do mate. I was thinking of a custom code map because I have heard good things and they are fairly local to me. It seems as though I may need to talk to Sarah;)

FYI...Sarah works for Awesome GTI now.....but you can get APR code from there.

Yep, that's right. You need to speak to Mike or Emma at JBS/Custom-Code.
