Rear brake caliper!

Featured Replies

Hello

I'm sorry if this has been a topic but can't seem to find anything on the issue. Basically I have a mk3 vrs and the drivers rear caliper is leaking out the handbrake linkage.

Now because it's red and powder coated they aren't avaliable from euro or any one else other than the dealers at around 240 plus vat I can't seem to get hold of any.

I have gone down the route of refurbishment but they can't guarantee 1 if the housing is worn and if it needs cleaning it won't be re powder coated it will be painted but can't guarantee it I'll match.

Any help is appreciated

Thank you

Rob

Hi,

I ordered one from GSF Car Parts a few years back, they ordered it direct from TRW and it came in red.
Not sure if they will special order you one, but definitely worth a try with your local branch.

EDIT: Just found two part numbers, could be worth a shot on google/eBay

autodoc are listing remanufactured rear brake calipers matching 5Q0615423C. Price is about £99.18 on their 30% discount day (ie. Mondays). You can tell they match 5Q0615423C because that is the only OEM part number mentioned on the listing, and the colour is specifically stated to be red, and the below photo is shown on the listing. The right side 5Q0615424C isn't currently available on autodoc.

TRW right rear brakes calipers matching 5Q0615424C is not currently in stock on autodoc.

However, they do have the plain coloured ones matching 5Q0615424B

Thank you for all the replies. I've tried euro and they cannot supply a red caliper at present for what ever reason. I can easily get a plain one but then it sticks out like a sore thumb and painting them I'm a bit ocd with things like that I know that one will be different so it would annoy me. I have found some but I will follow up once I've been in contact abit more.

Thanks again

I bought mine from autodoc. The german parts website that has lots of different names. Only issue is i posted my one back and as they were ******* they claimed It was too rusty to repair. It wasn’t as it was still red i had accidentally split the rubber so changed the caliper as a precaution.

Would it really be that bad painting them? they will be off the car so easy to paint, get some red calliper paint and it would be a good match - I doubt anyone would know.

I have used those calliper paint kits and the finish has lasted years.
