Handbrake won't release

Featured Replies

I've has my brand new Skoda Octavia 1.5 SE Technology petrol HB for 5 days.  Its driven less than 100 miles.  This morning the electronic handbrake would not release and the dash lit up like an Xmas tree with warning messages.  The VAG tech who can out to look at it,  and after loads of diagnostics it looks like the main controller has failed. On a brand new car!! It can't even be towed.  Its being collected to go back to Skoda dealer for repairs on Monday while I await delivery of a replacement hire car.  I chose Skoda for their reliability as my last new Vauxhall spent more time in the garage than out.  Was not expecting a catastrophic system failure on a Skoda in less that a week of me having it.  Not impressed!

Be careful or you'll be told it's your fault...

They all do that Sir. 😁

That's extremely unfortunate but it isn't typical. Most electronics will either fail early in life or run for a long time and then fail. Yours is the former. Hopefully you will get sorted and back up and running soon.

UPDATE

I've just got the Octavia back from Skoda. They have replaced the ABS pump controller and everything appears to be working now (touch wood)
