Does anyone know if you can replace the p21w DRL bulb for a led bulb, I'm guessing I would need a canbus filter.

 

I know they need to be e marked but Im not sure if it's needed on a drl as it turns off when you put you sight light and main beams on :s

Yeah they can be replaced with a suitable LED alternative, you'll need resistors to get around the CANBUS error or better still code them out.

Thanks, it took a while for delivery, I've put some led p21w bulbs in and I coded it to led and it seems fine so far

Let us know if they fail or not after a year or so. The location of DRLs is subject to much vibration of the lamp. That is why the special long life filaments were used ex factory. 

Leds should not suffer as much - it depends on the construction.

Yeah they are in a funny place compared to some vag cars that have the bulb in the headlamp, I'll update on here if anything fails on it

Hi Franky,

Could you inform me, if it is byte 27, bit 2 you have set to indicate that the drl lights are LED's ?
