Water in spare wheel well

Featured Replies

Where could rainwater in spare wheel well be getting  in while car is parked ?

1) Poorly fitting bung in the spare wheel well base.

2) poorly sealed rear light cluster.

3) Poorly sealed tailgate/hatch.

Basicaly anywhere at the rear end that has an opening to the outside. One way to test is to sit inside the boot area while someone else sprays a pressure washer around the rear of the car.

Have you got a Pano Roof?

I'm investigating the same issue with mine at present. The front drains were blocked but not managed to check the rears as they’re difficult to access.

Thanks have checked bungs and light clusters , cleaned hatchback  seals and made some new drain  holes in the seal as it was full of water. Nearside well was also wet but have checked rear washer pipe which is also ok. Will check around again after some overnight rain.

Hi Gulf1

I am having the same issue in my Fabia Mk 2 Scout (2011).

I had to change my tyre and the well was full of water.

I took everything out, dried it completely then looked for obvious water entry marks but couldn't find any.

I left the car for a few days (there has been no rain, I haven't washed it) and i checked it again today and sure enough there is some more ponding water?!  I can't explain it.  Could it be something to do with moisture condensation?

I appreciate the obvious is seals etc, but if it hasn't rained and the car hasn't been washed, seals don't appear to be the issue?

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

D
