Hi guys, 

 

I have problem with Fabia 1.4 MPI AZE engine. Changed 4 head gaskets and all of them blow after 2-3 months. Can cat be a problem or what? 

 

Any help and suggestions are welcome. I ordered new gasket and thermostat and going to try it doing with my friend.

Also should I be careful of something specific when opening this engine?

Did you get the cylinder head skimmed?

Aye, what @TMB said. My Granda had this with a Punto that the head hadn't been skimmed on post-OMGHGF.

If the head hasn't been machined flat you'll be replacing that gasket forever more, also use the Temac MLS gasket, not some horrible BGA type composite turd.

I had mine skimmed before I replaced and it's been going strong for 18months as guys said needs skimming or your just throwing money at it with same end result.

I couldn't get a TEMAC one so I used a Victor Reinz one.

I don't know if it's MLS tbh, but it's still going strong nearly two years later.

What brand of gaskets are you using? Are you you setting the head bolts to the correct torque settings?

I didn't do it by myself. I want to do it by myself now and ordered Victor Reinz one. Do you know torque settings so I don't need to google it?

Also, my father drives it and this morning temperature was on 90 and dropped fast in seconds. Possible clogged cooler or something?

Change the thermostat!

Guys, guess what. One of piston couplings got loose, found tutorial on internet how to fix it and gonna try it tomorrow. Putting new 0.1mm sealing ring and additional one 0.12mm on all four cylindres
