2017 models do they all have DAB? Ex MOD estates coming up at auction

Featured Replies

Hey folks, There are quite a large number (100 of them!) 2017 Fabia 1.4 TDI 75  S estate car models coming up for sale at British Car Auctions this week.

I need to replace my aging Mk1 Fabia 1.9 TDi estate and am thinking of trying to get one. It looks like they probably all have DAB, would this be right? Most are listed with it and all are the 75 S model. They have a small infotainment screen. Did all 2017's have DAB? It's something I really want so I don't want to risk buying one that doesn't!

Unfortunately the vehicles need a new first UK registration but I think I can handle this ok. They'll be a little bit gutless compared to my PD100 1.9 diesel but  guess economy will be excellent.

Thanks

I think not, let me know some VINs so I can check

Thanks but I don't have any full VIN's. I've just had another look at the listings. I'm in EdInburgh and I thought most were at Bedford and Birmingham however I see just now there are a dozen at Leeds BCA. Unlike Bedford and B'ham all the cars at Leeds are listed as having DAB so I imagine I'd be safe with one of those.

@silver50Have you got an account with BCA?

Lots at Dealers / traders for sale around the country.

Swing Radio.

Thanks. So a “swing” radio incorporates DAB?

Yes I spotted a couple myself on Autotrader. I’m guessing there was a last round of them not so long ago. This lot are all 2017’s too. Mileage varies a lot but many are 40-60,000.

it appears the likes of the above 40,000 miler may only be circa £6000 (or a bit less) but used cars remain to fetch high prices so I’m not certain.

Current prices have really put me off something newer. I quite fancied an Octavia but they seem pricey in relation to age.

That's interesting, thanks for the info.

Another point to be aware of from a 2006 to 2017 car is the battery state of charge, the more modern the more computer programs to get their knickers in a twist as the computers can play up with a car battery in a low state of charge even if the engine starts and the lights seem bright enough.

This could work to your advantage if warning lights and messages are showing only because the battery is in a low state of charge but many think as the car starts and the lights seem bright enough that it can't be the battery.  Conversely if the vehicles have been sitting around for a while then just driven very short show and park distances you may need to recharge the battery before plugging your scanner in to clear any error codes to see what codes remain after recharging and driving.

The thing to bear in mind with BCA is if you've not got an account and aren't buying quite a bit off them, the fees can be more than the difference between the hammer price and buying one on a forecourt.

They’re trade only these days too and you can’t even view the cars. Have to rely on condition reports. All auctions are still fully only online too because you can’t attend a site which is a menace.

Half the cars being we buy any car .com ones, I suppose they’re happy with it being trade only as are the trade.

I’ve a friend that can bid for me.

Thanks for above re battery  power

Have you actually inspected and driven a 2017 Fabia 1.4 TDI 75  S Estate to see if it's the car for you and to see how much it varies from your 2006 1.9 TDI Estate?

ETA: Also consider the DPF now, the type of driving and your driving style.
