If there was one thing I would change about my Kamiq…

The bleeping when you open drivers door when engine is running! Totally unnecessary.

What’s your pet gripe?

One switch to turn off Lane Assist like there is for Stop/start

Snap.....plus.......... smaller wheels to give a slightly better and quieter ride.

Do you mean higher profile tyres on smaller rims?

I have come to the conclusion that I must be weird….. or just don’t let small things get to me.

The beeping when opening the drivers door is a reminder that your engine is still running, and I see it as such.  On the extremely rare occasion I do this it doesn’t come close to annoying me.

Lane assist is two presses of a button, no big deal and even if I forget and lane assist kicks in it’s just a gentle nudge, again no big deal.

Smaller wheels would make the Kamiq (especially the MC) look ridiculous.  More to the point, my MC rides and handles superbly, with little road noise.

IF I had to nominate a gripe it would be the temperamental sat nav, but DEFINITELY none of the above.

Maybe it’s just me……not being bothered about aspects of the car that are meant to behave the way certain people complain about.  The occasional sat nav glitches are slightly frustrating because it behaves in a way that it wasn’t designed to behave…….THAT is a bona fide gripe IMO.

Anyway, I’ll get my coat.

Really?  It’s one press of the button on the steering wheel to bring up the menu, then one press of the same button to untick lane assist.  You COULD press again to get rid of that menu but I don’t as it disappears anyway within a few seconds.

Ah, didn't realise it goes away on its own! Thanks

No worries bud👍

I made a slight error in my previous post, you DONT uncheck lane assist with the same button, you press the scroll wheel to do that.

I'd like it if the doors didn't fill up with water while it's parked and hold it there until you open the door.  Dealer says it's fine but never had a car do it before.

Not had that on mine

Or me.

@Norton Ianwhat does the dealer think is fine about it other than various models have had the same happening for years.   The dealership employees can be muppets.

With some the seals need realigned, and some need the holes cleared periodically.

Where the H20 gathers and then freezing and the weather stays freezing over a few days or weeks there are those that might put warm water on the door windows and that freezes in the door.

There can be eventually quite a lot of ice in a door that does not get opened or even ones that does, then there can be some water comes out and the doors freeze close.

A thing that all will not have, depends angle you might park at,

and many are unaware of, and a location location location thing, but this winter maybe more common this winter in the south of the UK than usual.

PS

The fuel filler flap freezing closed is a characteristic that some will discover and others might never experience, that includes the Engineers and Road Testers of cars designed and manufacturers in Central Europe...

The Skoda's can just leave the factory with the bottom drain holes that hold the H2o in until the doors are opened.

Some let water out and out of the car. Some let water get into the interior. Sadly.

Some are poorly fitted.

So get down on the ground and look at the bottom seals and have a poke at the hole in the rubber and see this lines up with the hole in the metal.

Dealer says there isn't a problem. It is worse when I park on my sloping drive, which is most of the time. Water dribbles out when I open the door, both drivers side & passenger side do it. Had an Octavia previously and never had the problem with that. I just wonder about the long term and if the bottom of the doors will rot.  In other posts some dealers have said the doors are wax sealed so it won't be a problem. I hope they are correct.

There is a problem though they never bought and paid for the car.  They drive demonstrators and courtesy cars.  If it was their car it would get fixed.  But if you are happy that as time goes on trapped water means that your car gets steamed up inside more in winter or even gets frost inside then no problem. Remember to open doors and let out the water regularly.  And watch for the drain holes gunging up.  Clean then out regularly.

Not a Kamiq but a Karoq gripe. I wish the satnav voice wouldn't say 'please' every time it says anything. It is far too gratingly polite. A contrast to when it says 'Please make a U-turn NOW'

Water in doors mine does it even on the last car. There's 2 holes for drainage both are set about 6" in from each end. If you park level it empties if up or down hill they fill up to the drain holes as soon as you drive off they empty. The door seal doesn't help. As the holes are under it.

It won't rust as the car is dipped in a bath of rust protection before top paint is applied and fully waxed inside

They will not rust through at the bottom, unless they do eventually.

That will be after the Corrosion (perforation) Warranty has expired.

They might rust higher up if a Yeti or a Fabia Mk2 at the window seals, or because of Zinc Inclusion with the likes of a Yeti, but that will be visible on the outside and a Dealership Employee might never have heard of that or seen that or believe as covered by the pain warranty as that is only 3 years.

Well it was and required new panels not just a repaint.

Paint warranty is 10 years.  stone chips if if gone to metal but not from inside

The Paint Warranty is 3 Years.  I used to do Warranty Inspections.

Corrosion Warranty was 10 years and is apparently 12 years now, if you can find that on the Skoda Warranty now.

Remember the 6 months / 6,500 mile items, panel fit etc and do not put off til the 1st Service to report anything that might be in the exclusions.

PS

DSG Clutch Packs are covered in the Warranty, so if a Dealership or Skoda employee says not you can tell them to read the T&C's or those in an Extended Warranty.

Nothing springs to mind expect it’s not a Yeti !  I like my Kamiq MC, I appreciate on with the new etc but such a shame it was discontinued.
