Hi everybody,

 

I’ve got the dreaded message - Software download, source activated - searching for SWL image

 

It’s a Skoda Superb 2014 and I drive to Cornwall on holiday in 3 days so I need to fix it!

 

Can someone advise? There’s a Balerno from a 2011 Octavia for sale for £30 so I’m wondering if that is a quicker solution as not even sure if I have a cd burner!!

I have the same problem with my 2013 Superb. I looked what the problem is and how to fix it, but none of our laptops have cd drives. Tried main dealer, telling them what the problem is, but they will not help, saying I need to book it in for a diagnostic test costing £120. They will just take the money and say the unit needs replacing. So I got a third party replacement unit off the net, but each time I connect it up it the fuse blows. Don't seem to be any auto electricians round here, and don't want to pay vast amounts for main dealer to fix it. Bit stuck now.

We have been experiencing problems with the Colombus for around 6 months now on our 2014 Superb L&K and have tried to keep up with appropriate threads on Briskoda. 

 

First it started by TV programmes not functioning/detected then it started to switch off - be it in Nav or Radio mode and switching on again a few seconds or even minutes later.  Now it wont pair or match with a mobile telephone.  After a number of attempts I managed to do a factory Reset and although this restored most functionality (but not phone) for a while, the problems continue.  Irritatingly, a few months ago I updated the nav database but I don't think that this is anything other than a coincidence, the problems pre-dated this. 

 

To pre-empt the next suggestion, how do I remove the unit without damaging the fascia so I can photograph the unit.  I have had no messages about software or firmware.

Anyone had a totally flat battery (3 yrs old) that they suspect was caused by the Columbus not turning off after vehicle vacated and locked and left for 18 hrs?

 

Have been unable so far to spare time to remove and photograph the unit’s details but may have find the fuse to isolate the unit for the time being to avoid being stuck.  A job for in the morning when it gets light and the battery has hopefully recharged.

Does any one know if it's possible to "down grade"  the firm ware?

 

My problem started with the loop problem, got that one fixed with the uppgrade to 5238. But instead i got the battery drain problem....

 

The car is an skoda superb II 2009. the can-bus gate way got replaced in 2017 so i think it's one o the newer verision.. 

RNS510 nr is 3T0 035 680 G , H03

 

What firm ware verision is the orginial one?

As for the pressing, not sure yet as the firmware recovery might actually allow some functionality to work, as it's in recovery mode.

Hi, there. Sorry to resurrect this post after a while, but I may need something similar.

 

Got in the car last night, radio "working" but no sound. Whatever channel, or input. Nothing. Reset the infotainment system. Left it a few hours. Got in and audio! But only one station, no volume response. Switch ignition off and radio stays on. No power button control.

 

For now I've unplugged at the back so no power, but most frustrating. I thought I'd got a hardware disk but it only seems to be the satnav, not audio.

I'll get a photo of the top soon.

Hi @pab567 , hope you are doing well. I'm hoping you may be able to help me as I'm experiencing the same issue as this post.

My RNS 510 Columbus has a message stating it is searching for the SWL image. (Exactly like the photo posted on 1/3/2026

I am able to burn a CD if necessary.

I have a 3T0035680B.

Jan 2012 Skoda Superb in Australia.

I would be grateful for your help.
