what if??????? remap/tuning box confusion/puzzle

Featured Replies

What if you put a tuning box on a car, but for my sake a VRS but its already been remapped by previous owner and I dont know about it?

What happens? whats the likely result, remap plus extra  or as id suspect the tuning box is going to be fighting with the tune and you end up with worse?

Anyway to check if your cars been remapped other that getting it dyno'ed?

There are some add on boxes which can be stacked but I'd say you're right, most times they'll fight one another.

There are flags, records showing ecu flashes but not sure what software you need to view on. Some will probably enlighten us in a while...

Other way I suppose is on dyno or use a GPS log for 0-60 or 400m the latter if you have a suitable private road.

still on the 2nd hand tuning box, update from 2day, been on an airport run and unsurprisingly MPG was much better averaging 45mpg.

Car does go like stink now, even preety responsive in eco mode.

box is dialled down too program 2 minus 3 setting.

But MPG is pants for a diesel round town. had loads of diesels before and not as bad as this.

Might run it without the box with the next tank to compare.

What MPG are you getting around town?

Allow in your fuel consumption that your car is doing regens and using fuel.

They are not great around town no matter what Defeat Device / Cheats VW Group / Skoda had with Euro 5 TDI's.

That is why they really were not great for taxis even though millions of them are used exactly for that job.

Wow! That really is surprisingly low for a modern diesel. (Well it's surprised me, anyway.)

Yes, I notice he has had a long-running issue with his tuning-box.

I'd have been tempted to sell it and just buy a new one from the dealer and get support from the dealer.
