Stage 1 remap for better fuel economy

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

i have a 1.8 tsi octavia and i’m planning for a stage 1 remap for better acceleration & fuel economy.

considering dq200 which can hold upto 250 nm torque im bit confused with the new map. Since that will increase the bhp from 180 to 200 and torque increase from 250 to 310 nm.

I need you advise to understand a feasible option that keeps my car safe & still delivering better fuel economy.

I have searched a lot on YouTube and other forms and i could find performance tuning videos.

i have heard some good feedback for revo & code6. Can you suggest which one to go for and why.
if there are other good remaps then please do suggest.

I've been thinking about a similar remap (but not for economy reasons!) - I have a 2016 L&K 1.8TSI with DQ200 and am concerned about the torque increase on the dry clutch DQ200 where unlike the wet clutch DSGs the option to increase the clutch clamping force isn't possible.

The torque increase to 320 Nm or so with 1.4 TSI / TFSI Twinchargers with Stage 1 maps has not been an issue & you can have upgrade clutch packs and software,

but many never had and the DSG did the job.

As for a Euro 5 Emissions 1.8 TSI in India & a DQ200 DSG, i think i would leave well alone and keep my fingers crossed the engine stays good as standard.

@Anu123

Has your 2014 DQ200 DSG had a Service Campaign action carried out?

There was one for some DQ200,s between 2013-2015 and this was a Software Update.   '34H5' in Europe.

It was because of pressure / heat problems and failures.

Hi toot,

not really, I don’t remember a software update that was done for my vehicle.

Can we update the software now?

Not the same engine or gearbox but my 1.9 after a remap was much smoother and mechanically more sympathetic to the clutch. The stock map had a massive surge of torque low down.

Not saying the 1.8 is the same (likely not given the engine type) but there is no reason for it to be worse on the clutch if driven consciously.

I also think that dsgs have coding to change down a gear when the torque is overloaded.
