Karoq Vega 19" Alloys - Refurb options

Featured Replies

Going to get my 19" Vega alloys refurbed. Spoke to the specialist and he gave me a price for return to stock look and then said it would be an option to powder coat them as one colour instead of the diamond cut surface on stock and would likely be more durable.

I said I'd have a think about which option to do, but I've not seen any Vega in anything other than stock. Has anyone done anything other than stock on refurbs?

Sorry, no help for your actual question. I have one of my own though. How much were you quoted for your refurb to OEM look?

£300 to strip, repair and paint/lacquer

£450 to strip, repair, diamond cut and paint/lacquer

Nope. Had three 19" Crators refurbished, two done at home in repairers mobile van, the third had to be taken offsite for a little more work. Forget the actual amounts, something like £60 for onsite repair per wheel and £100 for the wheel that had to go back to his repair shop. I was very impressed with the results, all three looked just like new.

Have no experience of having wheel powder coated but given the majority of wheel damage is due to kerbing with potholes coming a close 2nd, I fail to see how powder coating them would provide any additional protection.

Most of the damage on mine are the lacquer failing on the diamond cut areas, goes a milky white as water gets behind it on minor damage. At least with the painted finish the damage would be more localised

Makes sense.

I had the diamond cut 'sportline' alloys on my Superb re-done in BMW orbit grey all over and dumped the diamond cut. Way better to maintain, can be touched up with normal paint, no more white patches where the laquer fails. Cost me £355 for all 4 including one that needed minor straightening. I will be honest I think I actually prefer the look to diamond cut on my car which is white.

I used Max powder in Apsley https://maxpowder.co.uk/ happy with their work.

My Karoq is Quartz Grey so I'm think Black or Dark Anthracite at the moment as most Greys would be too similar to paint. Was thinking possibly satin rather than gloss though, more of a sleeper that way
