TEST THE DEALER Screen wash test!!!!

Featured Replies

Just as a matter of interest I filled my screen wash bottle up to the top before it went for a service. The screen wash was dark blue so it did not look like water.

On the invoice I was charged

I've caught out dealers with this in the past and challenged them on it as well.

Please tell me you didn't pay for it.

I had the same happen to me. he did leave the bottle in the car though. This time though he didnt give me the half litre of oil he didnt use, but charged me for and the car was dirtier when I picked it up then when I dropped it off. Next service I will be asking for a litre of oil to cover the amount they owe me.

and to think i didnt even take the nets from the back of the curtesy (sp) car they loaned me even though they were still in the bag. Wish I did now.

I always get charged for it. But then I always need it. They always leave the bottle like wise with anything else they use.

I had this happen to me. I quietly and politely pointed out to the service guy that I'd topped the bottle up before the service and he said their service items come as a standard pack. He gave me 2 bottles of screenwash and appologised.

In the dealership where I work they always leave the screenwash/oil thats left over in the boot for top up purposes, seems like the decent thing to me.

I'm pretty sure that mine use stuff bought in bulk to fill it up and always charge you the full price for a small bottle even if they haven't used any.

I certainly never got a part-used bottle left in the car so I make a point of always brimming it and disputing the charge

I purposely empty my screenwash before the service as I have fallen foul of this before i.e. being charged for screenwash even though it was not required

Seems to be something that happens in most places by the look of it .......same thing happened to me at my Skoda garage near Devizes

Mine was empty when it went in. They also gave me a new air freshner and cleaned the car inside and out!

I topped mine up when I took it for the service....was then cahrged

Standard procedure - also they could have voided your warranty for the jets and any work related to the pipe coming off as it's not the approved stuff - IIRC there were some service notes stuck to the wall in the Oxford dealership to actually state that.

That aside, top it right up or empty it beforehand, it's not just Skoda, this is a fairly annoying standard thing. Fair dos if they give you the bottle though, and/or ask.

I allways left the remains of the washer fluid in the car if the bottle was full etc.

Dont bother at my new place, to save any arguements we dont give any out. Just fill it up with water if its low. If the screen doesnt clear or freezes and the pipes come off thats the customers look out.

Now thats service :thumbup::D

I got the same at my dealer, the first time it happened I returned to find a bottle of screen wash on the front seat, thought it was a freebie, until I got home and discovered it was charged on the service bill, and that was in spite of the washer bottle being full. just another ruse to make money, make you sick.

mine booked in next week, must fiil it first and see what happens!
