KONI FSD's and Eibach springs.

Featured Replies

Hi

Just fitted KONI FSD shocks and Eibach springs to my new Octy and the ride quality is A1. Not so harsh on the bumps and much firmer through the corners, does what it says on the tin!

I didn't want it too low so the 35mm drop is just about right.

REVO map is going great guns and now just waiting for Milltek to send me down the exhaust for me to try Stage 2.

Cheers Shaun.

What improvement does the FSD shocks make?

Hi

Gives the feel of coilovers without a harsh ride. We have fitted quite a few sets for MK4's and I was keen to tweek the VRS's ride without making it a bone shaker.

These would work well on the Leon as well. Come down and have a go in the VRS if you are close?

Cheers Shaun.

What poundage springs does the kit have as I didn't realise that they did a kit for the new (or old) vRS.

Any piccy's?

I think they would be the same as the ones for the Mk5 GTi, as they are for my new Leon. all three cars are around 1400kg.

Coming to the SCN kent meet on saturday Des?

Hi

I used the GTi springs and they seem to work fine. I think there is only 50kg difference between them so its worked out ok.

Cheers Shaun.

Hmm, a few on here seem to be having handling problems with Eibachs on mk1 Octy's.....Oh and the absence of 50kg's does make a difference, specially at the back. Even Eibach say there is a gap in the market for the RS.

Hi

I found the handling to be fine with these springs? There wasn't a listing thats why I tried them.

Cheers Shaun.

I have three questions:

1. What was the cost of the Eibach/FSD set up (fitted)?

2. What did you do with the bump stops? Left them as standard or shortened them?

Cheers.

3. Are the vRS wheels a pig to clean?

Having been running standard OEM shocks/struts with Eibachs for a period of time, I have to say there are problems with the combination, that being understeer, as the shocks/struts do not seem strong enough to pull back the springs.

Awesome tried to find various solutions, from Koni Coilovers to Eibach Coilovers, but none of these are correct for the Mk1 Octy vRS.

I was told that Eibach would try and make up a set for the Mk1 Octy vRs, but this did not happen, so have now had the Koni FSD'S fitted together with the Eibachs to my Octy vRS, and I have to say there is a difference in the handling, stiffens up the suspension without knocking your fillings out.

Not in coilover territory, but lots cheaper than KW3's which seem to be the only coilover option at the moment, as KW1's do nothing and KW2's are not advised by the manufacturer for road use on the Octy vRS.

Lets see how they perform over a period of time, but initial reactions are really good.

Edit:- Sorry but now cannot realy advise the above combination for the Mk1 Octy vRS, the FSD'smight be good with the standard OEM springs, but with Eibachs I now have handling problems now they have settled down affecting ride height etc, now taking them off.

rsbsp:- The bump stops on mine were shortened.

Hi

Been away for 10 days. sorry for late reply.

The car did have a hint of "4x4" about it before! The back looks a little higher than the front but this seems to be the case with Eibach springs in my experience.

Cheers Shaun.

Hi

Just fitted heavy duty H&R anti-roll bar kit. Excellent but makes the car a little stiff over rough surfaces, i.e. country lanes. I chose the thicker of the 2 choices which was probably the wrong choice for my local roads?

Really pleased with the Koni FSD's and Eibach springs. Even my wife approves and she hated the stiffness in an Audi S3 we used to have.

Milltek exhaust and downpipe on order and then REVO Stage 2 after that.

Cheers Shaun.

Youv'e got me salivating at the thought of all these mods!, do you stock any of this stuff or is it ordered specially?.

Any chance of more piccy's of the H&R's?.

loving my fsd's.with standard springs due to my driveway.very very good bit of kit:thumbup:

Hi

If not in stock then it would be next day delivery. I will get some shots when the cars next up on the ramps.

Cheers Shaun.
