Advice please 2021 Karoq 2.0Tsi Sportline

Hi  all,

My wife is hopefully collecting a Karoq 2.0Tsi 4x4 Sportline 2021 later this week and I am looking for some advice on a few things and tips perhaps. Apologies for the amount of questions, but was easier for me to put on one thread. Thanks in advance for any replies.

1. Anyone got an opinion on the best dog guard out there for these with preferably to option to have the divider attached? Really would want to leave parcel shelf in with it and remove parcel shelf when dog goes in occasionally)

2. What is the best boot liner, with the option for roll out boot protector built in or extra? Not sure I want the full lined boot protection, maybe just a rubber mat with lip. There are so many aftermarket and some direct from Skoda (including one I have seen that built in carpet bits that can fold over bumper and up the back of the seats, so anyone with this one your opinion on it would be valued) I am also considering the RGA bumper protect I have seen mentioned on another thread or PPF of rear bumper.

3. What is the best micro size USB C stick people have found for music and what formatting type did you use?

4. Do the Mirrors fold in automatically on lock (I forgot to check) is this user programable in car? (otherwise I have seen you can do on mirror control switch)

5. Does the car auto lock as you drive away? Again is this user programable.

6. Anyone know exactly where the inflator kit, tyre weld, towing eye and 'tweezers' are supposed to live in the boot? Is this all the bits/ tools this spec of car would have come with (there is no spare)

7. Soundaktor, the dealer won't turn it off before I collect it  as part of the deal! I know it can be disabled via programming, they know it can be, they say they aren't allowed to!! But i can go get it done and they are fine with that. Any tips on this? I've had a specialist quote me and have a couple other people to ask, but am debating just buying an ODBeleven (think I would need the PRO version, correct me if I am wrong) and will just do myself via menus or the maybe an additional to purchase one click app.

8. Tyres are a combination of good and ok and same make all round, Bridgestones, probably OE. Anyone with experience of All season on these such as Michelin Cross Climates or equivalent? Or anyone run  Pilot Sports for example (if available) and found them to be an improvement in dry and wet conditions and acceptable in winter. I would be more inclined for an all season as I run this on her current car as it allows us one car to use when conditions deteriorate and we have to go somewhere, they have been great. (My own car is a waste of time in snow 😂 but now ok in damp and heavy rain having switched the P Zeroes to Pilot Sport)

Again many thanks for anyone's opinions and thoughts on all this, your input will be very much appreciated.

You can order the below spare wheel kit from a VAG parts department using OEM part number 57A093860C. 3,409CZK is about £121.31.

The 3.5Jx18 ET25.5 5/112 57.1 steel space saver rim is normally fitted with a 125/70R18, but this tyre size has an outside diameter that is too small for the Karoq 4x4 because it's really an Octavia MK3 spare saver tyre that Skoda has simply repurposed for other cars rather than selecting something more appropriate. This is probably a cost saving measure. I suggest you use this spacer saver rim but with a bigger outside diameter 135/80R18 space saver tyre. This will closely match the outside diameter of the 225/60R16, 225/55R17, 225/50R18, 225/45R19, Karoq 4x4 standard tyre sizes.

Hi Rooted, Hi Carlston,

Firstly apologies for delayed response, shortly after posting I had an emergency situation to go a deal with and have been without access to phone, laptop, internet! Hopefully now back in the land of normality.

Secondly, thank you both for your responses.

My wife now has the car, she seems very happy with it, I've not had a chance to drive it yet (other than test drive) or really look round it, hope to later.

I am new to using these forums, so figuring out how to use and where to post was a bit of a minefield to me, hence why put it in the thinking of getting a Skoda section, at least that's where I think I put it. Should I have put it in the dedicated Karoq forum? And should I repost there to get my other answers? obviously editing out the bits she already knows the answers too.

Rooted thanks for your information, I had a look before responding just now and have now found the relevant section covering winter tyres including the larger Sportline wheels. Apologies for asking a question previously asked a lot, I just figured others in the same boat as me would have a similar list of questions plus my first attempt i couldn't find a thread covering our vehicle in particular. Always good to refresh these things I guess.

Carlston, while not a specific question I asked, i really appreciate the information you've given me and the time it took you to put it together as in fact since the post, I've considered maybe we do add a spare wheel kit for certain journeys, and maybe remove for those where need absolute maximum boot capacity and rely on inflator kit on those should the unfortunate need arise. in this case I would need to have two sizes of dog guard boot divider and boot liners, but am ok with that. One appeal of the Karoq was the boot space in it considering the over all package size of the car, but till we have used it a bit, taken the dog out. Weekends, weeks away, with and without children won't really know. From a standard day to day, no spare fine. Again as I said Carlston absolutely great information for when and if I do need to add the spare wheel kit. 👌

4 and 5 are both settings in menu.

Think the mirrors retract automatically when the cars locked. As for the self-locking on moving off, the time delay for this can be set in the menu.

Mines a 2020 Sportline 1.5dsg and managed to acquire a space saver from another forum member and have since bought a wheel brace, all fitting neatly in the well under the floor of the boot.
As for tyres, I bought CrossClimates to replace the 19in OEM Bridgestones which me and Significant Other hated with a passion. It was that or downsizing wheels and tyres. Can’t recommend the CCs highly enough.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve still. It had the chance to drive or look properly. From what I gather they’ve come set on how my wife would prefer it but at least now I know where I, her or eldest son needs to look if changes can be made.

Loving that right angle adaptor you’ve linked to. I already have an ultra small San disc flash in my Merc o don’t really use so I might just give her that to use but with music more to her liking in instead 😂

Yes that’s what it’s currently doing so perfect I didn’t realise a time felt was maybe an option so will take a look. Thanks

Ah that’s great to hear. Someone with really experience of switching the OEM Bridgestone to CC on 19”

I love cross climate and we used them on her Focus the last few years and more gave us a decent all weather car to use, we’ve only changed one due to damage a few months back. We’ve kept that car for now for a number of reasons including the fact it’s on CC as I may opt to retax and insure it as a winter car for myself.

I think as a when the Bridgesones need changing  I will switch to Cross Climates for the Karoq  as it would be one of my choices and you’ve pretty much confirmed that. So thanks.

Apologies for all or any typos all. I seems to have lost the ability to type on my phone 😂🤦🏻‍♂️ probably rushing too as currently no wifi and minimal signal where I’m stuck right now and wanted to catch up on the thread.

Although it was back in June, I got a decent deal through Camskill and had my local tyre guy fit them. At that time Michelin we’re also doing a cashback offer which went towards the fitting costs.
