Carplay google maps

Featured Replies

Dear all,

I’ve switches to iphone and using carplay instead of android auto…As I see, there are no google maps or waze instructions on virtual cockpit, just apple maps.

is this correct or am I doing something wrong?

also in order to get voice instructions from google maps, I have to open google maps app on the phobe to get the voices.

Google maps and Waze can both work fine over CarPlay; I think you may need to customise which apps are displayed - useful as it can reduce clutter. It's over two years since I set up mine so can't remember the exact step, but this link might help...

Thanks for the info but it maybe it was not clear from my side, i have google maps & waze app in the carplay but in the virtual cockpit, there are no navigation instructions. I get only from apple maps instructions in VcC

I'd like to know this too.

I was under the impression only the factory Škoda maps show in the virtual cockpit….

it’s like that I’m afraid, there’s no setting you can use to change it.

Google used to show in there and then stopped some time last year. I’m not sure it’s skodas fault to be fair. (Probably is though)

apple maps is the only one I’ve found that still works on the virtual cockpit, but it’s not something that I personally find too big a deal and i tend to use google,

although i notice google maps on the main screen has a slight delay and i have missed turnings before as a result.

apple seems fine, and the maps look better to my eyes but their traffic doesn’t seem as good as googles.

if only we could combine the best bits of all of them.

No, it was my bad. I didn't read your post properly, sorry about that.

As others have said, only the built in SatNav and Apple Maps displays the turn direction in the Virtual Cockpit. Whilst CarPlay supports two screens (e.g. the Infotainment Screen and Virtual Cockpit), it is down to app developers to exploit it in their apps. I guess Google have not done so, whereas I think Spotify has to display the song title briefly.

It's probably phone related. I get directions from Google Maps directions on the virtual cockpit when using a Pixel 7 but not a Samsung A something or other.

It's more than likely phone related

My Samsung A34 shows google directions on the virtual display as well as the main.
