Well you see those in your wing mirrors...

I admire your ability to look at both mirrors at the same time.

  • Having a reversing camera for most people is a pleasant luxury, not a necessity. I have managed without a reversing camera for decades. Then I fitted one, and while find I still use my mirro

Honest to God, you've included a smily face but forgive me for not seeing the funny side of it.   We can all reverse cars, nobody NEEDS a camera to reverse, but it does act as an aid to assi

Can I ask what is involved in fitting this AliExpress reverse cam?

I reckon I can manage all the routing of cables and mounting of the camera, what about connecting to the display, where are all those connections placed.

Done this on a conventional head unit, MX-5, different plugs etc, haven't even got the Kamiq yet to have a look, that's later this week.

Thanks.

If you get the SinoSmart one it is plug and play. You only have to feed cables to the Boot all the rest is done by the new loom

Sorry another question, where will I find the loom to plug this in? As mentioned I haven't got the car yet so in the dark, thanks 👍

If you get the SinoSmart one from Ali express it all comes with the camera it was I think £35 complete. All you have to do is open the box and everything you need is there

About to order this AliExpress reverse camera, a question once it's connected up, if you have them, what happens with the reverse sensors? I have them and they show in the display and obviously bleep, are these then disabled or do they still show on screen and sound?

Works perfectly.  Shows distance sensors. Sound works too.  There is an icon to turn it off.  And additional image settings - color, contrast... As in the original.

I've looked for a loom had the display unit off the dash, the glovebox open and can't find where I would plug this in below to connect the reverse camera in, any clues? Thanks.

After removing the screen you will find a black box the size of cd player

It is this you have to slide out after removing the screws on each side. Then you can pull the unit out, the loom is fitted to the back of this unit

Perfect, thank you. I did see that box when the screen was out but it was getting late to start stripping anything major.

One more question, just unplug and insert the loom pictured and plug it back together, battery disconnected or ok to leave it, will all fire up again without problems? Guessing resetting radio stations and some other settings may be required?

There is no need to disconnect battery

I didn't just unplugged the loom fitted old loom to new loom then onto box.

Reassemble and away you go.

Just make sure you do not switch on until all is connected and back together

Thank you again for you input. Just waiting for a set of trim removal tools, always wanted a set but never got around to buying them. Then I'll strip the necessary trim off and dive into this job.

Hi guys. Sorry to jump in on this thread but I have just ordered my sinosmart unit in readiness for the the collection of 2021 Monte Carlo later this week and was wondering about the running of the cables from the camera to the display. Is this quite straight forward? Anyone done a step by step guide or a YouTube guide?

Reverse cameras are a pointless luxury if you already have reverse sensors (which most new cars have).

The sensors will accurately tell you how close you are to something, thus doing the same job as a camera just without the visual aid.

If I buy a car with reverse cameras fitted that’s fine, but I wouldn’t dream of chasing wires and drilling holes into a car to have one retro fitted. Even if it didn’t involve drilling holes I still wouldn’t bother, pointless.

Only my opinion, if you disagree then all good👍

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. My opinion is that for added safety/comfort I would like to add the camera to the standard parking sensors and have already place an order for the sinosmart kit.

Couldn't agree more, plus cars have mirrors so a camera isn't really required unless it's something like a lorry, van etc where there's no view from an internal mirror.

Why the negative comments? I have made MY choice to install a reverse camera and have asked for guidance on the fitting process.

If this forum group is made up of people who are not prepare to offer assistance when requested but are willing to provide negativity then I question whether this is the group for me.

It wasn’t intended to be helpful mate, but this is a forum and like it or not opinions are commonplace, so I voiced my opinion.

You’re welcome👍

I’ll guarantee that if I looked hard enough I can find plenty of posts from you whereby you’ve voiced an unhelpful opinion…..but I don’t care enough to even bother.

Wind your neck in mate.

Fair play mate, at last someone who recognises that we all have different opinions.

It’s nice to have an adult debate👍
