Switching between apple Carplay and android auto

Featured Replies

This probably doesn't affect many people but I have an apple work phone and an android personal phone. When I'm connected to Carplay how am I supposed to switch to android auto? There seems no way of doing it.

There should be two options in one of the menu's. I think it appears in the Smartlink one, when you let the car see your phone's.

But I'm not 100% sure though

The issue is once it's connected to Carplay it no longer shows the Smartlink option it replaces it with Carplay.

I think the mobile devices menu should allow you to switch

Ok tried it - it doesn't work as you can have a different phone connected than the phone that has the Carplay/Android auto connected. So there's no way to change from Carplay to Android auto. Frustrating.

Frustrating indeed! Especially as I can swap from one iPhone to another (mine and my wife's - CarPlay to CarPlay) - one is CarPlay connected the other with 'simple' bluetooth for hands free calls. In mine, CarPlay reconnects the last one used in that mode - sadly not remembering which iPhone is associated with which [car] User even though the key association brings up the correct User and seat position.

There is an option to switch, but it is not convenient.

When one of the two phones is connected, press the menu button and select phone. Then press settings and something similar to "connected phones". In this menu, you see the connected phone via AA or CarPlay. Press one time the connected phone and it will disconnect AA or CarPlay. After that, press menu again, go to Smartlink and select the device you wish to connect.

Like I said, not very convenient, but as far as I know the only option without disabling wifi/bluetooth on the connected phone.

From a Reddit thread on the same problem, I found a quick and simple way to swap between Apple and Android Play on my Karoq (2022).

With either the Apple or the Android Player open on the car's main screen, press the 9 little dots/squares to access the Apps on that Player. One of the App's is a Skoda badge symbol. Press the Skoda App and it will present you with the option to select between Apple and Android play for the phones it detects.

I found a quicker way to switch between AA and CarPlay and vice versa.

Press the menu button and select phone. Then press setting and select something like "connected phones". The phones are then displayed. Swipe from right to left on the phone you want to connect and select the AA or CarPlay icon. After that, the infotainment immediately changes AA/CarPlay without having to disconnect first.

You just press the Skoda app and that will dump you back into the car’s software and then hit the button to change the phone selection
