Is the unit a physical fit? I guess with the older OI you aren’t able to go back to home / menu?

The problem with Octavia Mk4 is the aircon and vehicle settings are handled by the headunit also.

3rd party OEM will need to interface with those systems and have similar UI so that you can still access aircon/vehicle settings.

It was easier with the mk3 Octavia coz that generation use physical buttons if I recall correctly.

This thread is about upgrading the infotainment system, so I’m not sure why you’d want to downgrade your infotainment system but 🤷‍♂️

Still I don't think this 3rd party infotaiment are off any good

Had a look into the firmware of the pre-facelift, if somehow we could hack the checksum we can custom change the firmware and adapt new things

I wouldn't mind the same features on a bigger screen just a bigger satnav would be useful.

Part of me wants to get an used old unit, take it off and see if a bigger screen could be fitted as in re-use everything except the small screen. then a 3d printed surround be placed around the rest.

We use powder bed 3d printers at work, so making it look professional wouldn't be difficult.

Its just whether the resolution would be up to it.

Then the only remaining lead is to tear down both screen and see if the screen of the bigger one has the same connector as of the smaller one
