Qi 15w wireless charger

Featured Replies

I found the specs for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and it's rated at 15w charging, you probably should be looking for something that has a bit more poke to compensate for it functioning and charging at the same time.

I have a 14 Pro rather than 15 Pro Max so should be ok. Plus I’m looking at it just keeping the phone either at the same charge or only slightly charging on longer journeys where the wireless CarPlay tends to drain the phone pretty quickly.

So therefore you will need to have a 20w or 30w charger to compensate for the current draw and actually charge it, let alone maintain the current power levels.

The standard Apple MagSafe charger for the iPhone 14 Pro only charges at 15w so not sure why I would need more?

I’m not convinced the front USB ports output much more than 8 watts so getting higher wattage devices is a mute point.  On long journeys I get enough charge to keep the phone ticking over and increase the charge overall.

Because you're using software and wireless which is power hungry so you need more power than normal to keep up with the power draw and then maintain and increase the amount of charge going into the battery.

You said that things were getting hot, well that's your proof, if you have more power available then it should run cooler

Well I have a charger that just about keeps up with power consumption off of the USB ports, which I think have a max output of 15w.

I was talking about that particular item getting hot not in general when charging in the car.

As someone who already has the 15w magsafe charger has already said it keeps the phone from losing any battery charge.

Are you on about the charger getting hot?

Also, I believe Apple MagSafe charging tops out at 15 Watts.

No as I said it was the small electronics module on the lead from the USB plug to the charger itself that got extremely hot…. Not the charger itself.

I’ve been using wireless charging on my iPhone for years and know they can get warm whilst charging when under use/heavy load so know exactly what to expect but this wasn’t the charging pad.

yes it does which is why I’m not sure anyone would need anything more than a 15w charger for an iPhone in a car.

Maybe some android phones need more but the iPhone doesn’t.

I've got my new phone today and found it's to big to sit flat on the charge pad. Now need to find something about 2cm thick that I can put under the pad, to raise it up.

Other than the above it was able to add a couple of % charge on an hour's drive, while using android auto maps and streaming music which is fine for me as new phone has a 10,000mah battery.
