VOTE NOW! Car mats - rubber or carpet? 51 members have voted

  1. 1. Time for a referendum on this thorny issue, so have your say in this important vote: (Full disclosure - for me, it's rubber mats every time.)

    • Carpet - it's a little touch of luxury that cheers me up when I am stationary in nose-to-tail traffic.
      35%
      18
    • Rubber - it's quick and easy to clean and there's no wet-dog smell constantly drifting up from damp and grubby fabric in the foot-well.

Can I vote both...   I've got rubber in the Kodiaq and carpet in the MX5 and Swift...

Nooo! Can't hunt with the hounds and run with the fox. It's time to take a long hard look in the mirror and make a choice.

Location location location but surely Rubber during winter, worst of weather etc.

Good point - but now it is time to proceed to the voting booth and make your mark for one or the other on the Skoda-green coloured ballot paper! See link.

Now time for you to post your cars thread for the Project.

Carpet in the cabin, but boot liner with the rubber side up.

Anyone recommended rubber mats for Octavia 2013-2020?

I voted carpet - but if I was going to be wearing muddy gumboots a lot, it would be be one for the rubber fetish 😁

rubber all round including the boot in my Superb

The first thing I did when I ordered my Scala in February was to order a set of rubber mats from skoda-parts. They are so much easier to clean after long walks with the dog on wet days.

I can also recommend a made to measure rear seat cover from www.overthetop.co.uk If like me the dog goes in the back.

OK, here’s another “back in my day” trend -

rubber mats were very much a feature of only poverty spec models in the range, ‘de-luxe’ versions had carpets.  I must admit I still subscribe to that view.  (But then I don’t have a dog -wet or dry 🙂)

another example of the time was chrome/no chrome!

Both seem to have been reversed nowadays…

It's horses for courses.  In the Scala it's carpet mats in the passenger compartment and a good rubber boot mat.  In the CRV it's rubber mats everywhere as we have two dogs who like woodland walks and our daughter has horses hence lots of muddy boots.  The dogs don't come in the Scala as our large Greyhound wouldn't fit.

Carpet every time for me, and strong brush and a vacuum soon gets any mud out of them after wet weather dog walks.

Rubber, for a few reasons, all of them practical.

Easier to clean, tend to stay in place better than carpet (I have 5mm rubber mats in my car), can't get water-logged, don't hold smells/stains, and that's just all that come to mind at the moment.

Carpet mats are undoubtedly nicer, but for day to day use, I prefer rubber mats.

Talking about smells, the rubber mats did stink when they first arrived though.

aye my rubber mats smelt a bit at first but it goes away after a bit

You just need to be careful with the rubber ones when taking delivery...   when we got our Kodiaq second hand the dealership had 'valeted' the car but whatever they had used on the mats had made them slippery as hell - they were lethal when trying to get in and out the car as your shoes just couldn't grip them - it took a number of washes with fairy liquid / shampoo / snow foam to get them sorted.

Rubber Mats, with having two kids, spillages would easily be sorted!

Making them travel in the footwell of your Skoda seems a bit harsh. 🤣🤣

I have just had a set of top end carpet ones delivered for my 1U VRS by Premier Products in Mansfield

Pure luxury! But keep the carpet shampoo handy as we head into autumn - which, in the UK, starts tomorrow, once the longest day has concluded!🤣🤣

Summer, what's summer? Ohh that thing called Global heating and the Climate catastrophe, yeh I know 🐮💩
