You have to change the ACC to 'travel assist' i believe (it also turns the wheel to keep you in the middle of the lane)

I’m still not fully expert with all of this but I can say that with ACC on, the car adapts to changes in speed limits. For instance say I’m in a 40 mph zone and set the speed for 38 mph, the car will happily maintain that speed, to the point of braking if a downward slope starts to take the car above that speed. Then say the speed limit goes to 60 mph, the car will accelerate quite assertively up to that speed, and back down if say the limit goes back to 40mph. I don’t know if  it goes back to 38 mph or just the 40, ie the initial setting being lost but I’ll try it out next time. I also don’t know whether it uses traffic sign recognition or gps but I’ll look at that too. If it’s sign recognition then I see an issue when going to a slower limit, because if the car only acts when it sees the speed limit sign then it won’t have had time to reduce to that speed before it enters the zone. Unless it applies the brakes very forcefully maybe. So yes I’ll try all this out too. So many things still to learn and so far it’s all been pretty good.

Mine does exactly that.  Under ACC drives at 30 in a 30 limit, when it passes a 40 limit sign the speed goes tip to 40, it recognises a National speed limit sign and drives at the appropriate speed, ie 70 on dual carriageways and 60 on other roads.

A bit more boot space

Extra comfort features

Stalk mounted gear controls

Parking camera

Extending seats

Space saver wheel

Retracting tow bar

Rear seat drop-down mechanical remote control

Things that maybe they should have kept but which aren’t there any more:

Only one umbrella but recessed for two, a bit Scrooge-like 😭

No sunglasses holder 😭😭

No permanent live at sockets/usb’s 😭😭😭

No indication as to which gear you’re in, unless you’re in Sports mode 😭😭😭😭

Comfort Drive mode feels a bit harsher such that it is hard to tell from Normal mode 😭😭😭😭😭

I can live with all that!

The rest of it: It does feel a great car overall, as did the Mk3.

I can’t really fault this car just as I couldn’t fault the old one.

One thing coming from both cars is the great mpg,

I admit to being a bit of an mpg nerd but a car this big averaging 70 mpg over 100+ miles with urban included, you’d never think it. Reviews say mid 40’s for the 190 but I regularly get over 60 mpg and never below 50 mpg wherever I drive.

So I’m a happy old boy!

Ps, I didn’t take the photo, both hands were on the wheel!

You appear to have the route planer working on the virtual cockpit. A feature that has not been actuated on the 2025 model. On th right hand dial I can get a compass and when th main screen is in route planner mode I get directions in place of the compass but never a map picture as you have.

John625, Which mapping app do you use? It works for me with the built in maps. But not with Google,Waze, Apple Maps.

Hi Cedwing, I only use the built in maps. I hope that was not another free upgrade that only came after midnight on a certain day and I missed it.☹️

John625, what happens if you press the right pointing arrow on the steering wheel? That should change what you see on the background of the cockpit display.

Have tried that button, see below for result. This was the display shown to me when I collected the car. Salesman explained it was a known problem waiting for a future update.

That's a shame. Here hoping the update is soon.

Well the mpg has got even better! Even though it’s down to driving style, I think it’s still amazing that 80 mpg can be got from a non ev car this big, and, from the less efficient version of diesel

A quick review of my new 2.0 TDI 150 HP L&K estate (currently at only ~2500 km):

PROS:

• very nice to drive, you don't have the feeling of its size while dealing with curves or hills, it stays and responds nicely even on higher speeds

• still learning to get fully familiar with DSG reactions, but most of the time it reacts very nicely, holds the speed while driving downhill etc

• I would say the TDI 110kW/150 HP is just enough for a regular driver, even when driving on highways (under the speed limits)

• as a driver that first time experiences matrix lights- they are really amazing. I am still manually turning them off in some tricky situations when auto-dimming could fail and blind the car in the front

• seamless Android auto experience, it connects automatically when you turn on the car (OK, you need to have you Bluetooth turned on) and everything is here

• in case you want to have your music downloaded locally, on the type C USB- it works as well

• canton sound system is, from my perspective quite good, it of course requires the initial setup (as many other things in the car), but once set, it is more than fine

• fuel consumption is great (TDI 110kW)- around 4.5L (~52 mpg) on a highway if you are under the speed limits

• DCC works nicely, there are no clicking DCC sounds in my case, was little dizzy on my first trip to the village, on a very curvy road, but the normal/sport mode solves that, or I just got used to it

CONS:

• although the AC works perfectly, the seat ventilation is really weak, really, just enough so that you can say it exist, it has the ventilator on the bottom of the seat that, I would say, uses only the cabin air to cool, and is not connected with the AC. It means that during the very hot summer days, you would need to slightly delay the seat ventilation until the cabin air cools down enough

• too many clicks needed once you turn on the car- I assume it is regulated by the EU law so that a car can't remember emergency assist configuration. Despite that, I really think it should NOT be the case for e.g. a driving mode, the car should be allowed to remember the last driving mode you used...

• had a uncomfortable experience when my friend didn't close the rear door completely- the car complained with the "open door image" on a cockpit screen only, but there were no sound alerts at all. The car allows me to drive ~200 meters without complaining. Once I realized the image on the screen, I had to stop on the road, he closed the door and nothing bad happened. If you ask me, there MUST be a very loud sound alert or even a system that prevents car from achieving higher speed if not all doors are closed.

• I would like to have the emergency parking braking somewhere in the top bar shortcuts, the same as auto hold option- while parking in a tall grass, the car will probably use the emergency brake and scare you to death (at least the first time). Once you realize that basically nothing bad happened, you will then need some time to go into the parking settings- locate the config section, find the option to disable it etc. If you have another traffic/car waiting for you to move while doing it, it can be very stressful. This option must be somewhere quickly accessible.

OTHER:

• you have to learn how to use and drive the car, really :)

  • an example, just spent a frustrating 20 minutes of debugging the "nasty issue of the car", it emergency brakes after ~2 meters of driving, every time I tried to move it, without any parking sensor warning, sound alert, message or anything. It was obviously a problem in me, I didn't use my seat belt because I just wanted to move a car ~10 meters down the yard. If there was some warning message that informed me about the emergency braking due to not used seat belt, I would be immediately informed and not spending my time on debugging everything else :D

Setting / calibration of the sensor is definitely too sensitive. I have to pay extra attention to my feet placement when loading / unloading!!!

Makes a change I’ve had three Skodas with virtual pedals and none of them could be relied on to work more than about 10% of the time

A really good read, the Velvet Red colour is stunning, you rarely see it on the roads, and an L and K with 4x4 ! Look forward to more updates.
