Hello all.

Ok, I might have lied.

Just brought a new-to-me Scala 2021. Very impressed.

Had a new leased 2011 VW Passat, and shared new 2016 golf, a while ago and have been VAG fan for many years. I'm an old fart now who has always been thirty his whole life.

Here presently to find out about dashcams, the mysterious USB rearview mirror socket and general hints and recommendations.

Have a good'un all.

Stay alert. This country needs lerts.

Same here - got my 2021 Scala SE 1.5 on 21 May and loving it so far. Prior to this, I flew a VW Jetta 2.0 TDi for 10 years and the Scala feels very familiar, thanks to the similar layout. Enjoy your new car!

Hello Happy_owner!

Glad you're enjoying it! I'm really delighted too. The lane-discipline thing isn't as bad as I was expecting, the Vauxhalls I have driven with it in were really brutal. It's a bit disconcerting on country lanes - there are many where I am - and it will often steer me towards a hedge, or the other 'lane', when it focuses on a groove in the road that isn't a centre line.

What have you done about dashcams?

First dashcam needed here.

Do you have that magic USB socket on the rearview mirror base?

Enjoy!

Al.

No rear-view USB socket on my Scala, so I've given the dashcam a miss - not keen on my trim being yanked out to route the cable elsewhere. I've never been sold on them, to  be honest, although I can see the case for them in this mad world.

With regard to lane assist, the jury is out; if I remember to turn it off, I do, and if I forget, then it is quite interesting getting this occasional nudge from the steering wheel. The one thing I always do is switch off the stop/start function using the button by the gear stick. I've never had stop/start on any previous car and I have found that I do not like it at roundabouts or tricky junctions. I also read someone on this site raising the issue of how the life of batteries is affected. So it's a no from me!
