Did I Locked My Keys In The Car!?

Featured Replies

So I 'think' I way have locked my keys in my 2015 Octavia VRS. I went to get my jacket out the boot this morning and now can't find my keys anywhere so have come to the conclusion that I must have put them down in the boot when I picked my jacket up and closed the boot with the keys inside and walked anyway.

Now my question is, if I unlocked the car in the normal manner (so NOT using the dedicated boot button) will the car lock itself after a certain amount of time even if the key fob is still in close proximity to the car ie inside the car???.

I can't use my spare set of keys as they are in the UK and I'm in Spain at the in-laws 😭

Try using the uk key over a mobile call. Signal could relay and open.

If you don't open the driver's door after unlocking the car will relock as a security measure.

If you have recovery they will get you in inside about 60 seconds (or they would in the UK)

If this is for the manual key-fob type, the car should not automatically lock after approx. 40 seconds if any of the doors (or tailgate) have been opened - not sure about KESSY.

From the owners manual, non-Kessy

I thought it was impossible to lock the car with the key inside.

When I forget mine it refuses to lock.

I have kessy on a 2014 vrs

DHL ? I would have rather wait for a spare key instead of braking something.

Have you managed to unlock the car?

Thankfully we have found them now. They were in my sister in-laws handbag  she called the next day to let us know,  God knows how they ended up in there!?. If the worst case had happened I would have had to DHL them over and hope they didn't go missing in the post.....but crisis adverted
