New to modifying

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm buying a skoda superb SEL TDI SCR 190

Im interested in uprating the suspension and fitting lowered springs, skoda have told me that they wont fit the sportline springs aftermarket and if i fit new ones ill need to deactivate the DCC

ive never modified a car before, so this is a bit daunting- can anyone recommend a garage in beds / cambs that can be trusted and answer if the dealer is right to say that the dcc will have to be turned off?

thanks!

That's incorrect - aftermarket springs do NOT require DCC to b turned off!

They're just trying to scare u.

Plenty have used lowering springs with their factory DCC shocks with no issues, provided ur springs don't lower the car by more than 35-40mm.

A DCC Recalibration procedure is highly recommended once the lowering springs have settled.

H&R or Eibachs r the popular tried n tested choice.

I myself have been running Eibach Pro-kit springs for almost 5 yrs now.  I have DCC, so the drop was only 20mm.

Been no issues whatsoever, both DCC and springs, or any of the connected systems such as steering, lighting and braking.

This is mine, before I changed the wheels.

Also to add - Sportline is a styling option, there are no changes to ride height through having a sportline

Ah

what i had read online (in these forums) indicated it was lowered by 15mm and stiffer suspension as part of the package?

is there a way to find out the specifications of my car without taking it apart? Its not from a main dealer.

As far as I remember the sport line non-dcc is 15mm lower. All DCC equipped cars (sport line or not) are 10mm lower. This is a design intent constraint of the DCC shocks. Doesn't mean different length springs can't be fitted. Just that the design intent dictates no variation from the factory. It's the same on the Octavia and probably on all other vag models too.

Thanks all

Im now starting to doubt if the car has dcc at all and its just a mode select for throttle response!

dont pick it up until a weeks time so if there isnt DCC that will probably make swapping to standard SPORTLINE suspension a bit easier hopefully!

Sportline is defintely lower as I have a L&K and my friend has the Sportline Superb.  Mines sat higher than his before I upgraded to coilovers.

Probably be cheaper if you bought Bilstein's B6 Shocks and Eibach springs than buying new Sportline suspension.

I have DCC aswell and used John's guide to recalibrate the coilovers which made a such a difference to the ride.

How big is the gap on the SEL you’re looking at?

My 2016 SEL you could fit a family in the wheel arch gap , it’s so big it looks wrong but it’s comfortable and good for rough road
