VRS Alloy Wheel & Maching Tyre

Featured Replies

Hi there, good morning, could any member of this forum please inform me what tyre size, & best tyre make, may be one in each price range will fit a Skoda Octavia VRS mk2 Zenith Alloy Wheel, Size is:  7J x 17 ET54 Part no 1Z0 601 025L. Only just purchased this wheel so have not got a clue, would a 225/40/R18 tyre fit on this wheel rim? Screenshot_20240827-180252_WhatsApp.thumb.jpg.8475af8ff0d7f93ab217ab45d7eb879f.jpgMany thanks.

Hi again, can a forum member please let me know as well if alloys of a Renault Laguna with tyre size 225/40/18 will fit a Skoda VRS TDi 2007 that's got a tyre size of 225/40/R18? Many thanks.

Hi again, just been re-reading the forum again, and came across a member posting an Ebay link to what they were thinking of buying for their Skoda Octavia to see if any other forum member would know if they would fit their car.
I am looking to buy - Renault Laguna 4 x Alloy wheels with 4 good tread tyres 225/40/18 | eBay for my Skoda Octavia VRS TDi 2007, does any member on this forum know if they will fit. I have no idea about the offset that I keep on reading about either, many thanks.

My other post above where I have purchased a 17" alloy rim after doing extensive reading it looks like I needed to purchase a 18" alloy rim instead especially if my cars already got 225/40 R18 tyres on the car. Therefore, this now looks like an expensive newbie error but please let me know if what I am saying is actually correct? If this will not fit then the alloy rim is now up for sale, and only looking for my money back, and this can be collected from Worcestershire, B98 7RG (UK) for £65.

Many thanks.

Renault Laguna rims won't fit the Octavia Mk2 because they use a different BCD (Bolt Circle Diameter).

Octavia MK2 rims

6.5Jx16 ET50 5/112 57.1 (205/55R16)

7Jx17 ET54 5/112 57.1 (225/45R17)

7.5Jx18 ET51 5/112 57.1 (225/40R18)

Like the Octavia MK2, the Octavia MK3 also uses the 7.5Jx18 ET51 5/112 57.1 specification for its 18" rims. There are some new 18" alloy rims for the Octavia MK3 in the Skoda accessory catalogue. The price seems to be a little over £200 for each new 18" alloy rim.

Dear Members

After now having more of an understanding about Skoda alloy wheels thanks to Carlston I have now also located these one off of Ebay - 4 Rial Kodiak wheels 7.5Jx18 ET51 5x112 GRAP for SKODA Octavia.

Now the part I still do not understand though is the "5x112 GRAP" reference, can anyone assist with explaining what the "5x112 GRAP" means?

These wheels on Ebay are cheaper than the original Skoda ones posted above and possibility not any where near the quality of the ones above either.

The ones above as well I could not see how much it was to post to the UK either which was one reason I began looking for an alternative set.

Many thanks.

5x112 is the stud pattern, ignore the 'grap' it's irrelevant but it does not state centre bore, i assume its 57.1 but never assume get it confirmed, could be 67 and need adaptors, they will fit, offset correct all being well.

Thank you T2000 - do I need to confirm that the centre bore is 57.1 and then they would fit without the need of adaptors? Many thanks.

Yes, but if you are in the UK you would be better off buying them in the UK as you will have to pay VAT at 20% plus import charges.

Thank you, & did not know about the 20% import charges.

I have read that any VAG/VW/Audi/Seat Alloys will fit on a Skoda if they are the same ones I have, & if I went for pre-used instead.

7.5Jx18 ET51 5/112 57.1 (225/40R18)

Any idea if the above is correct and which models VAG/VW/Audi/Seat could fit?

Many thanks

As long as the PCD is 5x112 and centre bore is 57.1 then any wheels, you could also lower the ET from 51 to say 40 and the wheels will fill the arches a bit better, so look for 5x112, 57.1, ET40-51, example here that would fit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/135213302423 they are SEAT wheels but correct specs and the badges can be swapped for Skoda ones

Thank you for taking the time to locate an alternative set of wheels for me, & the additional information that you have sent to me as well, this is greatly appreciated.

Please see attached pic for another set of wheels I have found, & based on what you have shared above with me these wheels should fit as well shouldn't they?

Will see if I can post the link to these ones as well, but they do not have tyres on them.

Dear Members

If the first post above advised that if my tyre size is, 225/40R18, then Skoda fit a standard wheel alloy rim size of,

7.5Jx18 ET51 5x112 57.1.

I am now aware that the ET can be variable from 51 to 40 and the lower end of this number the better.

Can the J7.5 be a variable number as well & if so what would the tolerance be on this number?

Knowing that the PCD is 5x112 and the 57.1 centre Bore must both be fixed numbers with no tolerance at all.

Many thanks.

The 18" rims Skoda fitted have an offset of ET51. If a lower number was better Skoda would have fitted a lower number and not ET51. However, some owners do seem to like using a lower offset, ie. moving the centre of the tyre further out in the wheelarch...but this is mainly done for appearance.

When big changes are made to the offset, things such as steering can be negatively effected because the front steering geometry only works properly within a narrow range of offsets. Additionally, moving the tyres to the edges of the wheelarches will make the sides of the car dirty very quickly which is why Skoda positions the tyres well within the wheelarches.

If you do fit a non-standard offset, you may need to inform your insurance company who may increase your premiums or refuse to insure you because that might be considered a modification.

Many thanks Carlston for your clarity.

Do you have expertise in, the in car entertainment system, please see my other post, & many thanks as always.

Those wheels you posted above are 19" wheels 19x8 not 18x8, while Carlston is correct re offset, ET40-50 range in Skoda is within limits of stock fitment, the reason I said was maybe look at ET40 as well is that you are going from a 7" wheel to an 8" width and if ET stays the same then the wheel will sit in further due to the extra width, well 1/2" out and 1/2" in from centre and there is more room on the outside by the arch than there is on the inside by the shock and spring.

For instance a 7" wheel range ET for Skoda stock fitting is ET52-56, a 7.5" wheel range is ET49-53 so therefore an 8" wheel would be approx range of ET46-50 so ET45 would be ok and ET40 would only be 5mm more poke which is nothing really, just gives you more options on wheels.

Hi T2000

I could see you were giving me more options on my wheels choice by you sharing what you had shared with me previously, and many thanks.

It certainly is a minefield for a newbie like me, after already buying on 17" alloy when I needed a 18" alloy.

Not only are the wheel measurements complex the tyre sizes are as well.

If it was easy to find 4x alloy wheels with decent tyres that exactly matched what Skoda factory fit then I would.

Factory Fit Wheel and Tyres

7.5Jx18 ET51 5/112

Centre Bore 57.1

Tyre Size: 225/40R18

I appreciate all the responses so far, and thanks for taking the time to share all your knowledge to guide me in the right direction.
