Heated seat fault finding?

Featured Replies

Hi forum, I have a 2010 Fabia 2 Combi 1,6 tdi 90 with heated front seats.

Lower pad in drivers seat is not working, and back pad is only heating on level 1, regardless of position of switch (it does turn off, but its the same level on both 1 and 2). Passenger seat seems to work fine.

How do I go about finding the issue at fault?🙂

I dissasembled the lower seat yesterday and found the heater-wire intact, wasted all my time 😆. Shined a powerfull light trough the pad and found no broken wire, no heated or burned areas.  Everything looked good.

I messured between the two wires going to the pad, and could messure restistance with my multimeter.  I dissasebled the centre console, and switched the switches, with no change in funtionality.

Is there a relay somewhere? How do I go about fault-finding the issue?

I found this diagram that indicates that there is a realy somewhere, but im mostly a nuts-and-bolts kind of guy. ☺️

My heated seats have stopped working altogether. The two-stage indicator lights work for both driver and passenger but neither seat heats. Now, I have a burnt bit at the back edge of my seat (it has been there for ages) so I assumed it had possibly taken the fuse out. My initial thought was that I'd replace the fuse, which would get the wife's seat working, but the fuse is good. I suspect the relay. My Haynes manual doesn't give a cct diagram for the heated seats and I found the one above less than helpful. Can someone point me to a useful diagram for a 2009 Fabia?

Just to let you know @Mathiasen there was a Service Campaign / Recall Action but not a proper recall back years ago on cars like your 2010 Fabia.

There was a fire hazard with the heated seats.

I might not bother trying to fix it then. It might be safer not to. After all, heated seats not working is a bit of a first-world problem.

Northern Scandinavia maybe...

But heated seats burning down the car could be more than just first world problem.

The heated seats are working again. All I did was remove the fuse to check it, find out it was okay, and replace it. When I checked the circuit I convinced myself it had to be the main supply fuse as the lights on the switches came on and there is a separate relay for each seat though neither was working. It must have been a poor connection at the fuse although everything looked clean and tight.
