Can anyone please help I need to get at the electrical connector in the side panel, to remove the electrical boot strut.

but when I have read some of the manuals it looks like you need to remove all the side panels even the lower boot trim.

has anyone done the to replace the strut and can give me any advice please.

I'm in the same boat. Seems you have to do a complicated boot trim removal including the lower panel which also requires removing the seat

I have found the issue it’s a broken wire in the rubber sleeve on the to of the boot strut! To get at the connector you can remove the lower panel and just release the bottom of the top panel and with a struggle you can get you hand in.

The VW is a lot easier acces don’t know why they didn’t do the same it’s definitely a design issue with the loom

I managed to solder it by pulling back the rubber cover next to the strut motor. Works like a charm now. Brown wire on motor 2 was broken

I have the new strut just getting around to do it 😂

I have the same issue. Its strut replaced under warrantee. Solder cure on 2nd strut twice. Boot now failed again, but can’t find break in wire. Boot now in manual mode until I find solution. Very good for biceps.

I won’t use Skoda main dealer as don’t want original Skoda parts as these are unreliable.

Has anyone experience of using alternative supplier?

Can I repeat question others have raised in the past. Anyone replaced with gas struts?

I have bought a set of Amazon have not yet fitted them but they can’t be any worse that the originals I think the wire is not flexible enough, on the originals does not flex for how tight the wires.

Don’t know what the wires are like on the new ones to be honest haven’t looked but they are a lot cheaper that the original parts

I took the opportunity to open both sides rubber sleeve and patch all the cracked wires. There were 4 cracked wires on the right side and 2 on the left. I'm sure that with time they will crack again. It's just a design flaw that is begging to happen and especially for people who use their car daily. I guess I would rather replace them with gas cylinder struts if there was the option in the future. The convenience of the automatic boot lid isn't worth 800 - 1,000 euro for each new motor.

True a different design more flexible wire in my opinion I got a pair for £355 on Amazon a lot cheaper and the quality looks good

I had the same problem. Broken green wire on o/s tailgate strut.
After foolishly trusting AI I bought a pair of Azteca struts as they looked to be almost identical and I found them cheaper than Skoda parts (I concluded Tiguan parts are not the same). The next problem is it is decades since I did much to a car (reversed the polarity of my Morris Minor to fit a radio, took a Honda 125S engine apart etc.) But spent 18 years abroad, mostly without a car. So all this trim removal is new to me and it didn't help that the manuals floating around online seem to be for a car with different trim to my 2018 (2017?) Karoq Edition.
Anyway - finally managed to complete the fitting today and the Azteca strut seems to work fine with the Skoda one on the n/s. When comparing the parts, the red and brown (power?) wires are thicker on the Skoda original... on Azteca part all wires look similar thickness). The wires pass through the rubber grommet at the top of the "Accordion" in the middle of the grommet on the Skoda, but offset from center on the Azteca part. None of that seems consequential.
I haven't refitted the trim yet - if there is demand for it I could provide some photos showing where the clips and rivets etc. are.
Meanwhile - after pulling out the luggage compartment side trip (top part) I found a small (1.6cm long) spring on the boot luggage compartment floor. No idea where that came from.
My only thought is it might be connected to the courtesy light in that panel but there doesn't seem to be any place or need for it there.
Any ideas? Or maybe it is not related to the car at all.

Sorry - red and black wires were thicker than others in Skoda part (not red and brown)

I suspect that's got something to do with the retaining screws that hold the rear light assemblies.......?
