Resonator delete?

Who's got a res delete pipe fitted, and what do you think?

Any performance increase, and what's the sound like - nicer or sound crap?!

I've heard they have a drone at cruising rpm...

Ta.

On a previous car I had a non-res Milltek fitted, couldn't live with the drone for more than 3 months so had a res fitted.

If you talking about the Soundikator, then it can be switched off via VCDS/ODBEleven if needed.

No, I'm talking about an exhaust resonator delete pipe, a physical part of the exhaust system

Don't get it they drones bad on the motorway

I've got one on my 245. Sounds nice on startup and tickover. Don't get any drone at all.

.When I had my previous car there was exactly this same debate about res or non-res. I had a non-res Milltek and the drone was so bad I paid to have it swapped to a res - some other owners agreed, but some others said they heard no drone at all.

The conclusion we came to was that it's down to individual driving styles, music volume and hearing, so there is no "right" answer that applies to everyone.

All depends on if its just res delete or full system including down pipe

Also depends on if it's a GPF model or not. Pre-GPF you could do a res delete and it would do a decent job. Post-GPF cars (2019 ono) you're very limited, and it's generally best to avoid touching the factory system. You won't get any decent change from it, and you'll ruin the emissions.

GPF models seem to either be silent, or a candidate for Milltek/Scorpion/Remus

I'm 2014. Petrol vrs

Just looking for a nicer exhaust note, without spending pounds on a full system.

Any extra power increase would be good too, just don't want it to have any negative effects.

If a car has a very restrictive exhaust system from factory, then removing this restriction can help the power output as the engine isn't having to 'push' the exhaust gasses out anymore.

That said, I don't think you'll see anything significant without an ECU tune, and even then we're talking morec 3" catless downpipe than a mid res delete!

Go for a res delete anti drone set up

Got any details?

Yes can be found on eBay it’s the little bit at back that’s stops the drone

Have you tried it and does it work?

No mines standard but know folk that have had good results with them

It's a Helmholtz resonator - a spectrum analyser app on your phone and some calculations and you can in theory stop drone in any exhaust with these.

I'm keen to hear from someone who's used the RPM performance one - thinking of ordering it and really don't want any drone!!

Yeh I did it.

Sounds a little nicer, no drone to note.

@major-eyeswater Did you go for the RPM pipe listed above? Have you noted any discernible performance or economy implication, good or bad?

I went for this:

Zaustworx

Skoda Octavia VRS MK3 Resonator Delete Pipe

Zaustworx centre silencer delete / resonator delete / deres pipe designed to fit the Skoda Octavia VRS MK3 standard factory oe exhaust system.

Sounds a lot raspier on startup, and a little through the rev range. No negatives yet!

Ah, so you went for the straight pipe, and aren't experiencing any notable drone, that's good! What engine do you have (not assuming a VRS, just in case)?

Yeh vrs tsi.

For the price, 100 fitted, im pretty happy.

Deffo does give it a nicer note!

Did you find it hard to find a willing mechanic to fit it? The best price I've had is £150 for a straight section fitted, but I'm after one with anti-drone, which is coming in at £200.
