vRS eml on / power loss

Featured Replies

Am getting an error code of 17965 Charge Pressure control. p1557 35-10 Positive deviation intermittent. Been advised will need a new turbo, oil feed pipe and return pipe.  Probably set me back £1500.  Does this sound right and could it be resolved some other way. eg: cleaning the turbo?

Thanks

Has whoever's quoted the job attempted any diagnosis, or just read the codes?

It's definitely worth at the very least having a quick look at the actuator to make sure it's got a full range of motion before firing the parts cannon. I'd say for the sake of a can of oven cleanser, giving the turbo, and possibly the EGR, a clean can't hurt.

Just read the code off. The EGR was replaced about 3 years ago. I think I might get a second opinion from another garage although the one that told me this is usually trustworthy

Has the turbo ever been replaced?

I have never replaced it and i've had it for 4 years. Why do you ask?

Due to the age of the vehicle I'd be amazed if it was the original turbo.

If the turbo isnt noisy and no smoke then it could be a stuck actuator or perhaps a failed MAP sensor. My octavia used to overboost due to a sticking actuator. The MAP sensor if failed may be sending incorect pressure readings  Worth checking them out before replacing turbo. Just rembered when mine did similar and was trying to diagnose fault that a failing n75 valve or pipes  can also cause similar problems. Not sure where it is on yours but maye be near egr?
