Thank you again as always @OccyVRS 😊 That's a great summary, few need look elsewhere now on this rather niche topic.

In answer to your question, my resonator is towards the back of my vehicle. It is the GPF that runs down the centre I believe - I have a posted a photo in another thread that you will have likely seen i.e. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/531944-14-tsi-150bhp-modifications-improvements/page/2/#findComment-5942528

Ah, yes. I must have been asleep when I posted that. The GPF should be further ahead of the cylindrical part (which is the res, I think). A GPF looks similar to a cat converter - it's more on the downpipe than the rest of the exhaust.

My previous pride and joy was a V6 3.5 litre quad cam , twin turbo and intercooled engine.

I only had the nerve to floor the throttle once and full chat the engine sounded gorgeous when going through the auto box.

The car had the extra sports exhaust and no idea how it sounded but the car flew.

My Superb has trouble putting down it's 150 bhp so no more thrilling noises for me.

Think I am correct on saying the Skoda 1.5 Tsi produced more power than the original Rover V8 in the late 1960s.

There's no replacement for displacement, except when there is. I just watched a video where a Golf R (okay, it had the engine from an RS3 in it) absolutely annihilated a 1000bhp SF90.

The average 2.0 now makes more power than a higher end 3.0 did a few years ago, and that's without anything hybrid.

VID-20250214-WA0004.mp4   It let's go a bit more on gear changes. Bit more of a grunt which is fun. Not sure if it's a great sound )

  • I did a centre resonator delete recently on my 220 petrol Superb - got an RPM Performance Resonator Delete Anti-drone pipe. It's made for the mk3 Octavia TSi. Good fit. Makes a nice lit

The EA888 is not a great sounding engine. All you really do is increase the volume of the farting (that's the only honest description) it produces; Centre res should give you what you're looking for,

I'm so confused @OccyVRS , I thought the boxy thing is my resonator, as it's similar to others I've seen removed on VAG cars. It's not my back box, that's out of shot and has the tail pipe popping out of it. Am I correct in thinking that my car does have a GPF? Is there any way to double check based on its model year or VIN etc?

Is your car an 18 plate or 68? Only late model 2018s had GPFs fitted.

The cylindrical pipe should be the resonator. The boxy thing is the backbox/muffler. You can have more than one.

@OccyVRS Mine is a 67 plate, so mine is GP-free, it would seem.

Ok, I think I've got it now. I have a resonator, muffler and back box. I think I'm probably going to try and find a resonator delete with anti-drone for a reasonable price. Most quotes are coming in around £200, but few are able to include the anti-drone feature, which is disappointing, especially at this price. Perhaps there's an off-the-shelf solution that would fit my car (but not specifically listed as being compatible, because I'm come across none thus far) that I could try and find a local mechanic to fit.

@Carst-2018SKODASuperb is that just a res delete with stock downpipe and stock mufflers?
