How to remove Karoq glovebox - 2023 onwards

Featured Replies

Annoyingly my 100 mile-old Karoq decided to blow its 2 amp Nextbase dashcam fuse this am. Possibly due to heated seats, steering wheel, windscreen, ICE, lights and air con all on.  I only realised when I noticed the dashcam screensaver was blank and  that the rear wiper was pointing to 12:00  rather than in its usual parked position.

The Nextbase power cable was hardwired in by the dealer last week. I had wondered if they had paired it with rear wiper- fuse 47. Turns out they had but the rear wiper's 15 Amp fuse hadn't blown, just the paired Nextbase  2 Amp   I removed the glovebox with a bit of brute force after reading but not really understanding the vague seemingly incorrect instructions on page 136 of the manual ( see photo).

I have also attached 3 other photos showing where to push the box brake bar and the bump stop retainers, as previous guides on this forum seem to be for earlier model Karoqs.

I have bought some spare 2 Amp fuses in the hope that this was a one off. Willing to take advice and any sensible suggestions if there's a better fuse to power the dash cam, which isn't constantly live. Possibly the cigarette lighter?

I used the Nextbase OBD connector hard wire kit. It’s an easier installation but some have commented that they dislike the permanent live. The Nextbase kit monitors battery level and switched off if it drops too much.

It's easier to drop the box if you use all three hands!

The rear wiper is not constantly live, only with the contact on, engine off; is no power.

looks to me the garage made some contact somewhere, as mine is piggybacked to the rear wiper as well (by myself) and has no issues whatsoever.
