Does the Kodiaq Mk2 PHEV need an Auxiliary Heater to precondition itself?

Featured Replies

It preheats electrically.

Does draw from the battery though.

@MikeyMan Would it draw from the mains charger if it was still plugged in?

The manual seems to suggest it should. But at least on my (3 phase) wall charger it doesn't.

Very annoying, on cold days i start off with 85% battery.

I have found that sometimes I will set the car to preheat and it will draw power from my car charger to maintain the battery level at 80%. However this only seems to be 50% of the time. When it decides it doesn’t want to maintain the battery level it will use 6-7% of the battery over 30 mins to preheat. I have no idea why it doesn’t always work as everything else is the same.

For me everytime I use the preheat it uses the battery. And it is very annoying so I am not using it.

I checked this morning and the battery maintained its level at 80% while preheat was active. The battery status on the app was shown as “conserving”.

Was it still charging when you started pre heating?

Vehicle had charged to 80% and stopped at 3am. I then activated the preheating at 7am and I can see via my charging point app that the vehicle was drawing between 500w-1000w to maintain the battery.
