Removing TIP

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Right, Jabba fitted my ABD TIP to my Octy. I need to now remove it and replace it with the original one in order for me to sell it. Can anyone advise me on how to remove it? I would go back to Jabba, but its not worth the 100 mile round trip to just remove it.

Cheers lads!

I hope you have tripple jointed wrists ;)

Turbo inlet pipe.

Oh right lol is it worth all the effort over a pipe?

Some people say it is worth it - but only pre-remap.

The OEM one is shaped like a squashed circle and the aftermarket ones are smooth and circular.

haha thought so! Any idea's how to remove it then? Where are the screws / bolts positioned?

which one you got? the samco one>?

I believe Bengie has had th eSamco one and the OEM one - so he may know the knack of removing it (but I suspect he got Ross to help if it was too difficult ;))

If its the ABD type TIP which is made of alloy it will have the same means of fixing as the standard OEM item which is just one bolt at the turbo end and a clip at the top where it joins the induction tube.

If its a Samco item the TIP is secured to the turbo by a jubilee clip which is very difficult to get undone,(even worse fitting the thing though!!!)

undo it then you pull it off the turbo and up between the pipework.

hope this helps and not hinder you to much..........

 I`ve fitted three but never removed one;) , does it have to come off as i`m sure no one will notice....

Phil

tbh id leave it on but thats just me

Hmmm true say. Cheers for that lads. I'll have a look at it tomorrow, and see if I can have a go at it, otherwise think it'll just stay on. Its the ABD one.

Do I need access from under the car? Or can it all be done from above?

If it's anything like mine, getting under was a must.:o

Only can be done from underneath.

Jack the car up on axle stands and you can slide your arm in where the exhaust is at the bottom of the bulkhead.

I changed mine from above only, it can be done but you need small hands. Access from below is best as it gives better access to the bolt on the bottom of the turbo.

Its quiet easy to do, but you need to remove a few parts to get access.

Cheers everyone! Gonna have a go at it today...

i fit a samco one on mine and wont be taking it off when i sell the car... to be honest i didnt find it a really pain in the backside to fit but did make a couple of silly mistakes which slowed things down.

i wouldnt bother removing it if i were you.
