Has anyone experienced any malfunctions with their 2025 Skoda Superb?

Featured Replies

Sorry I should have referenced my previous post

Briefly, the problems started with the hybrid system going into limp mode, usual "visit workshop" warning. First faults happened earlier on in 2025, but sporadically

Gradually the hybrid errors got more and more frequent, with the car being recovered early July as it would not start at all (traction motor starts the ICE and if that isn't working, the engine can't start).

Car was fitted with a new JX1 module (the DC>AC motor inverter drive). Two weeks later the hybrid system failed again but the vehicle would not re-start.

Another JX1 was fitted and I believe failed again immediately. I believe a further unit was then fitted and also failed

The car was been immobile since it broke down in July and with no end in sight, we asked VWFS to take the car back, which they did.

My next car won't be a VAG-group hybrid.

  • Yes it was a software update concerning charging the battery , at first it was in for a day , however they called to say they have experience issues with other cars and would like to rebook for a coup

  • Are there anymore these driving modes: eco, normal, sport in these MK4 Superbs, which affects throttle response and shifting patterns? I dont mean the DCC damper modes.

  • Hmm, this isn't going brilliantly. Started the car this morning - Bong!!! "Travel Assist unavailable"... "Front Assist unavailable"... "Proactive occupant protection system restricted"... "Emergency A

I have a Superb Estate SEL phev Oct 24. Currently I'm experiencing intermittent grinding when slowing down. I believe it might have something to do with the regen. Intermittent jolting when accelerating I believe this might be due to the double clutch slipping. Finally, whenever I go to Heathrow the map navigation loses position and plots me in a completely different area which then affects the dynamic road sign system causing the car to break and slow down on the motorway because the car believes is travelling on a 30 mph Road. It recently had a software update which took 3 days.

Has anyone else experienced any of the same faults as some of them are intermittent and the dealership are struggling to them?

Still waiting to pick up my new Superb 2.0 TDI, after reading all the threads on software issues, am a little worried. Asked the dealer to insure the software updates were all done. There was 25 in the queue, all now done they tell me. Over 30 years of VAG vehicles, the last one I’m handing over next week when the mud flaps are fitted (Passat B8 Estate).

My Mrs will be unimpressed with me if it’s rubbish 😩

As long as there is warranty everything will be fine :)

Hi Joel,

Thanks you made me laugh 😂

Never having to deal with Skoda, I can’t yet comment (and hope never to have the need to comment) on their Warranty. I can’t yet only hope it’s a pain free experience.

Unfortunately after reading a couple of hundred posts on Superb’s, others don’t seem to think so 😳

However, as I normally treat all my goods and chattels well, I hope my experience will be smooth and long

lasting 👍🏻

I am of course, not making any comment or criticism of anyone who has had issues 🤦‍♂️

I’ve had my Superb back now after a 3month software update and was told it was thoroughly tested to make sure all was ok . I have now travelled for over 1000 miles without fault and no alarms going off etc in that time . I believe for me the issues appear tobe with the early production models with the logo on the steering wheel as opposed to the letters . Hopefully they have all been addressed now and your car will be fine. I am enjoying the car now it is an exceptional vehicle but it will be a little while longer before my confidence is 100%

Warriors,

That sounds great mate. I hope all continues in that vein.🤞

Yeah, the new Superb is an excellent car regardles of the software issues, but the non Canton sound system, which I have in my car, sucks SOOOO bad. I cant believe that in year 2025 car speakers/sound system can sound so foggy and dull. Even though it is a stock system and is not meant to make magic, still atleast is should sound like it is from this decade. I have also 05MY C5 Citroen with stock speakers and even the FM radio sounds twice the better than 20 years younger Superb.

Well I can only blame myself as I could have had ordered the car from the factory with Canton setup, but ended up getting one of the dealers "ready for shipment" cars because of hurry.

I have done 11k miles with my 2024 superb had no issues apart from ACC sensor fails in heavy rain when car just starts. Looked it up and it might be the front camera getting condensation. It is still under warranty so I wonder if I need to claim.

@Joel-

Joel, that’s sad, hopefully my stock system isn’t that bad. To be honest, it won’t affect me to badly as I have quite a high level of tinnitus that makes most sounds wools and treble quite painful. But I agree, on modern cars of this price range I would expect a decent sound system as standard. Have you complained about it? You may (hopefully) have a simple fault to resolve🤞

@AlexPy

Alex,

I would defiantly get that resolved, it may get worse. You’re not the only member who’s reported this issue. The more reports, the more likely it gets a proper resolution.

Hopefully, it won’t take too long for them to fix/replace it🤞

It is just that the stock amplifier is complete *******s and is not capable to drive the speakers properly. System is working as should, components are just poor, so complaining to dealer will not do anything.

Got a fault on my L&K 2.0 TSI 4x4 last week. The main center screen stays black even though you can press the options. Went to the dealer and he said it can be reset by pressing the off button for 20 seconds. This works as a work-around but he also said a software update was needed which will be done on the 1st.

One thing I have also noticed is that when driving on highway, I have to constantly adjust steering wheel a bit to keep the car on a straight line. This was not the case with my old Superb, it went straight without touching the steering wheel. My old Superb 2,0 TDi with 4x4 so this may have something to do with the handling.

I’d check my tyre pressure and wheel nuts first of all, then tracking.

Hopefully it’s something simple🤞

Unfortunately it is not a tire pressure thing. I have checked everything which is related to tires and all are good. Also this "effect" is present with both of my tire sets, summer and winter, and both are high end sets. I guess this is just another feature with new Superb which I have to live with D

Joel,

That’s good news at least.

Has the dealership driven you’s and what did they say about this phenomenon?

Without their cooperation, it’s difficult to move forwards as your aware!

Nah, if this starts to bother me too much, then I might bring this up when taking the car to its first oil service to the dealer. It is not that big of deal, I just got used to it that there is no need to adjust steering wheel at all when driving straight :D I guess the front end with this new car is lighter than what it was with the previous one and this makes it feel more "flimsy". Although I had installed this Powerflex polyurethane pendulum bushing to my old car, which minimizes the engine/transmission back and forth movement, this also might had affected the handling in a positive way.

ive had the low voltage battery errors along with thes stop/start not working
been back to dealer several times for it - they kept saying it was a mileage thing - which i knew was bull.
thye said battery was showing as 'good'
i eventually got a tech to drive the car with me in it and he admitted it wasnt working as it should
they eventually got a faulty battery reading somehow - and replaced it . Since then its been fine ans stop/start works exactly as it did on my mk3

i also had the squeaky drivers door mirror when locking/unlocking - but they sorted that very quickly

Today, I had my first experience of the safety systems “sudden Braking Syndrome “ reversing out of a super market parking slot, a small BMW turned round a corner to be approaching from about 23 mr slowely. The car stopped dead. My wife (bless her confidence in my driving) said …”what did you hit?”. I replied , nothing my dear and drove home…..

Update, I was wearing my seatbelt

  • 3 weeks later...

I've had my superb estate for 6 months now so far the faults I've had is the screen hasn't turned on 3 times.

The auto-hold if for ever going off it used to be everytime I turned the engine on and off but happens all the time even when driving.

Passenger front window goes down with a clinging sound and goes up with clinging sound too and also sometimes won't go up with the one pull like the driver side does.

Latest faults are ive not been able to get the traffication up for about 6 weeks and in the last week I've had an sos emergency braking error come up it'll slow me down I cant speed up then it'll put my hazards lights on and tonight it slowed me right down to a stop and sounded the horn several times.

It's been into the garage twice now and they did a software update but that didn't do anything and all the faults they can't find it's like the car behaves when it's with them

It's a motability car so having all these faults with it isn't good let alone the sos one

Louise,

I’ve only 1047 miles on mine.

The errors I’ve come across (in the order of times it’s happened)

  1. Reversing camera not switching off after reversing out of a parking bay and driving off. About 20 occasions.

  2. Auto Hold switching off. About 6 times, not for 4 days currently.

  3. Traffication, just once.

There may have been others in the first few days, I hadn’t done enough research to understand if it was me not applying the correct setting for what I needed. I seem to have the settings as I need them now happily.

John

The settings shouldn't change but they do like i have auto-hold on all the time it goes off i have the lights on auto for full beam and dipped it goes off my mum's car she has blue light all around and that changesto red and she doesnt have musicor the radioon but it'llturn on the radio hers is an octave 2025.

I've done about 3,400 miles the garage can't find any of the faults it's booked in at a different garage not convinced they'll find any faults either so its going back its unsafe to drive the sos emergency braking warning came on again on Wednesday thankfully my mum was in the car with me but unfortunately didn't record it as i stupidly pressed the brakes 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ but its made the car come to a complete stop hazards lights on and when it was at a stop pipped my horn several times and tightened the seat belts up I speak to the garage i got it from and the guy says how strange and told my mum as i was in tears that they've never seen it before until I brought my car in my mum told him I don't want the car i don't feel safe driving the car motability will only give me a hire car for the 22nd Dec as taking the car in for check on 23rd it's booked in for 24th Dec but I'm not going to drive it up on that day so I'm now left with either my parents driving me here there and everywhere or my hubby. The rac guy said to me on the phone as the car is drivable I'll not be able to get a hire car and when the rac person came out to the car last Wednesday he couldn't find any faults like no **** sherlock they're intermittent faults 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I told the guy on the phone it's not safe to drive what happens if it does that on the motorway etc it's an accident waiting to happen

Louise,

I do hope they resolve this for you, and quickly.

This evening I was chatting to a mechanic friend. He said that it sounds like a control box is failing.

He also mentioned that it’s unusual for the Auto hold to switch its self off and (I’d told him this had also happened to me) he asked if I’d manually switch off the “handbrake” in the centre console by hand as that in VAG cards disables the Auto hold. I don’t do that as my previous Passat, A3 and Passat before that, all had Auto hold and I was confident in its use.

He had no more advice that you were not already doing sadly.

John

Thanks for that as i have hand controls the auto-hold is vital for me I don't care anymore if they take 6 months and find the faults fine with me as long as they find them it's all stupid I'm looking at getting a 2nd hand wav vehicle not with Motability and 🤞 it'll not fail I've spent the past 2.5 days completely drained and emotionally drained too I've cried so hard on Thursday i gave myself a headache I wanted to hit my head my dad took a video of me so they can show motability and others how the car is making me feel not only do I have physical health problems but mental health problems too among which is audhd (autism and adhd) so having my independence stripped from me like this isn't good etc
