Horrid noise going over bumps

Howdy

2015 Fabia Hatch TSI SE, about 76k on it.

Had offside wishbone replaced in the aftermath of September's MOT. Over winter a nasty screech develops and worsens when going over a speed bump. Mechanic replaced bushes a month or so ago, all seemed good and the noise went away for a little while afterwards. But... the noise came back, but only when it's cold outside. Once either the weather or the car (or both) has warmed up the noise gets quieter and eventually disappears. Mechanic has most-recently replaced nearside wishbone through lack of finding any other possible culprits, but that doesn't seem to have moved us forward.

Recorded this video the other morning when it was about 6 degrees outside. You can hear the noise most clearly as I start my journey, then how it's not quite so pronounced on longer speed tables, and how it's also much less if only one of the front wheels goes over the bump and one stays flat at the side. And, by the end of the journey (which was about 10-15 minutes in reality) the noise is quieter than it was at the start.

My mechanic (who is a top dog and widely loved by everyone around here) is stumped... Any Brisokdians any thoughts on what we might be dealing with? Would very much appreciate your counsel if so. Thanks! (Hopefully YouTube video will embed below...)

I had the same issue on my Rapid, I replaced the rubber anti roll bar bushes with(Polybush) neoprene ones which after some time & in cold weather made the same noise as you have.

The cure was to lubricate the bushes where the roll bar passes through them. I used spray white grease, silicone grease might be better but I only had the white stuff to hand at the time.

You need to remove the bush to lube the internal bearing surface rather than just spraying the stuff at the roll bar/bush area.

Hope this solves your problem.

I've also got this noise, mainly since replacing the TCA rear bushes and struts, springs and top mounts, I'd think that some of this is coming from the design of the front top mountings, the car just sits on the top mounts, they are rubber located in inverted "cups", I'd think that dusting them with talc etc might resolve this for a while.

Annoyingly, I'm convinced that the rears also make this noise - again only when cold and for the first few miles - new rear dampers and springs were also fitted but I didn't replace the rear top mountings.

The newer versions of these cars have reverted to the previous design of top mountings for the front struts - I wonder why?

It's no mystery tell your beloved top dog mechanic, you have a VWŠkoda that have suspension issues at a low number of tears age that better manufactures don't have at decades old. Perhaps your mechanic isn't used to working on such lower quality manufacturer parts and components. My wife's 2015 Fabia Mk3 makes similar noises I could hardly believe the noise when I drove the car this winter at near freezing ambient temperatures after not being in the car for a while. I've been in decades old and very worn BL(!) cars that didn't sound anywhere near as bad.

I have seen other owners put how they have spent loads on having that, that and the other parts replaced still to have a noise or noises from the suspension or underside. If the car passes inspections you could just put up with it, or get a car that doesn't have these noises, or be grateful these noises can cover the various noises the engine make at various times. German engineering quality. 😄
