Featured Replies

Good afternoon, looking for some help if possible, I have a 2012 skoda superb elegance 2.0 Ltd 170, these battery keeps going flat with in 4 or 5 hours we have put an amp meter on the battery lead ans it's not draggingany volts any ideas please

How old is the battery (when did you last replace it). It’s probably just knackered.

Hi Chris, it's only 5 months old and nipped to GSF where I brought it from and had it tested can back fine I throughtvthe same think tbh

Well if you are sure the battery is functional and capable of holding a charge, it can only be 1) your alternator isn’t charging it (if that’s the case, it’s time for a new alternator - possible for a 13 year old car, especially if it’s done moon miles), or there’s a rogue power draw in the car, but would need to be a big one to wipe out a fully charged battery in 4-5 hours.

Have you been across the fuse box with a multimeter with the car off to see if there’s any current drawing there. That will give you a better reading than looking for a draw at the battery end, and it will show you exactly the device/circuit that’s drawing power while the car isn’t running, if there is one.

Brilliant, thank you Chris I have a look at that, I don't think it's the alternator as I haven't run the car inbetween the charge and it going flat as was selling the car and then this happened, I put the volt meter on the lead to the fuse box and there was no draw so I will have to check everything I've been told it may be the starter motor drawing but I haven't got a clue, would love if some was close to Doncaster could come and have a look for me I'm lost lol

SimonDonny, you have a 2012 Superb (mk2) but have posted to a mk3 group. You'll be more likely to get the help you need in the mk2 group.

Good luck in finding the answer!

I asked the admins earlier to move this thread to the mk2 forum.
