Had it with 312's mod on my standard Fabia.

After 3 sets of discs for Audi 312s i want to find replacement discs, Tarox, EBC or similar, what are you running, how many miles have you done with them.

( Pagid FR or Greenstuff pads were used but 3 sets of discs in 20,000 miles is crazy just keep melting / warping). I don't want Brembos.

If you want to run the Greenstuff's, I'd recommend running the EBC discs as they seem to be the only discs that don't warp with Greenstuffs in my experience! Or switch to Ferrodo DS2500 pads :D

I used to use EBC disks, drilled and grooved - used to last about 30-40k miles with DS3000 pads and lots of track use

Black Diamond are supposed to be good and people are getting 20-30k at least out of them.

Try the Tarox ones.

These are heat treated so should last longer.

£199.00 + VAT for the pair.

Not that much different to OEM ones and will last longer

Sarah

I've done 25k on the 312s, original pads & discs as supplied by Golf Turbo :)

By the sound of it you'll want EBC discs though, must brake late most of the time I'm guessing?

Gotta say i've had the 312's on for best part of a year again from GolfTurbo, and no problems here to speak of :)

damn. I'm boned then :(

A few big hills round my way plus i don't use the gears to slow down, all that opposite torque isn't good for anything.

I think you may need to adjust your driving style or you have a problem. That is no where near normal usage.

Im running 312mm tarox g88's as suggested by sarah at Awesome. If I can't warp or break them, I suspect you wont. Run in conjunction with Tarox Rallye pads. Who give's a **** how long they last. Ive never pressed brakes like them.

Edit - On my Fabia, not my Octavia.

I concur.

I have 312's with zimmerman discs and I drive like a ****. They have done 15000 miles and they have plenty of meat left on them.

Have you tried an IAM course?

I'll give them a shot.

IAM is for old men ( although their advice for winter driving holds good but very poor for dry/wet roads ), have you read negatve torque articles, remember i'm running ATB diff.

I'm sorry, it's none of my business, but why would you suggest the guy would need an IAM course?

Just curious, as I go through brakes at about the same rate as he does. The oem 312 discs are crap. Its a fact. Heavy use kills them. How can you sit there and tell someone they may need a imho pointless course, without knowing where he drives his car, the type of roads he regularly drives his car, or why he drives his car?

Not entirely. Their defensive driving training is cool.

Does that include free pads ?

 Good try.

The pads are

The PC1 I know would disagree with you there. No-one's driving is perfect and everyone can learn from other people.

Anyway....

Old men who get less wear on their cars, use less fuel and travel quicker. It's the first step in a long road to being a good, safe, fast road driver.

IAM and subsequent driver training has significantly reduced my journey times and decreased my costs. I thought I was a good driver before too.

I've said it loads of times and I'm going to say it again - why mod your car if your driving's not all it can be.

Granted the bit about speed limits sometimes gets ignored occasionally. :P

In line with previous posts, I ran greenstuff pads on standard disks with a Vauxhall, two sets of disks warped, and I wasn't braking hard at all. Went back to standard Halfords pads in the end.

Sorry been in england for a week on busness, but i love my Tarox G88's, pagid fast road pads and racing fluid, you are more than welcome to give em a try ;),

Brian often comments that they give a better feel than his brembo's when road testing the car
