Brake Pedal “Click”?

Featured Replies

My brake pedal will sometimes make a click/clunk sound when releasing it quickly. It’s been in to the dealer three times but they say they can never replicate it. They have the attached video but still can’t replicate it.

Anyone any ideas what the issue might be here??? As I say it only occurs if you lift the pedal quickly and after pressing on it quite hard. If you are only gently on the pedal it doesn’t do it or if you gently release it it also doesn’t do it.

That is a weird one! Not experienced the very audible click you've got there

I found on a new 1.5 etsi, 7 speed octavia breaking pedal very hard to push (strong resistance). Is it going to soften after break in period?

Do you have auto hold switched on? I have something fairly similar, but it goes away when I switch auto hold off.

I have the same issue with a Golf 8, 3 years old @ 14k miles. Bought it 7 months ago and it wasn't happening then. I've got it booked into my VW specialist next month for investigation.

Mine does it, always a clunk rather than click though. I thought the pedal was loose at first, but it isn't. I think it's just the car taking control of the pedal/brake force?

I consider it a quirk and am just training my brain/foot to release it more softly 🙂

My brake pedal also made some noises.. I have sprayed some lube on this spots and its way better now 1.JPG2.JPG

You can also check if the pedal clonks back at this spot..

Had mine 4 years and it has always done it. I put it down to being related to the auto hold, never really concerned me if I'm honest.

Just to update everyone..... After a few people mentioned the auto handbrake etc...... (I have the auto hold/auto handbrake disabled) I noticed that it only happens when on a hill when the hill hold control obviously kicks in so it does indeed look to be of a similar nature in that it's only when the car is holding the brakes itself when I release the pedal.

Cheers all.
