Lets get the stutter sorted !

Featured Replies

Dear fellow 06 plate vRS owners (and other 1.9tdi's)

Are you affected by the well documented stutter ?

If so can you tell me if

1. You have told dealer and they are doing anything about it ?

2. Have contacted Skoda UK for their advice ?

3. Have actually rejected car because of it ?

4. Have contacted any car mags or TV shows and had a response ?

5. Are prepared to just put up with it ?

Just asking as there seems to be so many replies to other threads on subject that never get followed up so thought it might benefit other with problem if they know the whole storey so can then decide what to do for best.

Thanks for any responses.

With gods help we shall beat this terrible afliction !

Cheers

I'll be watching with interest... I have an 05 at the moment, but will be ordering a new one in January!

My new one should be here in a couple of weeks, I wait with baited breath.

1) Yes. Took it back in first month. They could feel the stutter but as no fault code showed up they couldn't do anything about it. They said it might disappear with miles. It is still there but I think we have learned to "drive around it". Tickover is slightly more lumpy than our previous 54 plate vRS aswell, but again is not a huge problem. Still very happy with the car generally.

2)No

3)No

4)No

5)Sort of. I don't think it is that bad to make a big fuss over, but if they come up with a solution I will get back to my dealer to get it sorted.

I've been bugging skoda uk and my garage for two months about the stutter as it seems to be getting worse and now goes from 1700rpm to nearly 2200. Both keep stalling me and I'm due for another call to skoda uk next week. I've kept a log of all the calls and what I've been told in case i need to reject the car (really don't want to) , the garage took the car in last week and couldn't find anything wrong when i mentioned the 1700rpm stutter they said they never looked for that but skoda czech have a fix and it should be released in a few weeks. Given what the garage is like I think they are full of it and I'll hopefully have more info on monday when i call skoda again.

I'm not putting up with it as i've nearly had two accidents directly thanks to the stutter it's always worse if you catch the stutter when changing gear. If there's nothing forthcoming in the next week or two I'm up for a bit of bugging 5th gear/top gear or the mags I'm sure something will be done if we make enough fuss after all it is skoda's flagship small hot hatch.

Right I'll get off my high horse now :)

Mine comes and goes but has never stalled completely, It gets on my nerves no more, some owners are clearly suffering more than I am, I have only done 2.700 miles since buying the car in march and it has not improved in this time. I have rang my dealer who said they were simply waiting for Skoda to issue a fix, but it has been a long wait! My dealer has been very good in every other respect and this is my second vRS, so I don't want to start getting upset with them if it isn't their fault, but it is taking a stupid length of time for a big company like skoda to get their act together! The next JD power survey will be different.

hi there

my 06 vrs furby stuttered from week 1 i had it, eventually took it to BICKERTON SHEFFIELD after dealer i bought it from couldn`t be bothered ( HAYSELDON DONCASTER) they said don`t know about it even though their sales lady had stutter on her car????????.

Bloke at bickerton forgot name long time ago told me that all dealers should know due to skoda uk know and have instructed area managers and skoda czech know and have replicated problem.

They took diagnotstic readouts at particular points of ecu and engine points at certain revs after all data is collected this is sent to skoda czech via skoda uk

where they are going to lock themselves away to find a solution

He also told me that they think it`s something to do with the emmision changes they did to the ecu as pre 06 cars are fine and the changes they did to meet euro 3 or 4 emmisions may have caused the problem

hope this help may have missed points it was along time ago in march

Fabia 1.9 TDI Elegance Estate first reg. Feb 2006

This car has suffered from the stutter/hesitation problem from delivery. Now 5 months later with 3900 miles on the clock and three returns to dealer workshop the problem remains unresolved.

[*]I have discussed the problem with the dealer on numerous occasions but they are clearly in denial of the fault

I'm a little concerned / annoyed about the attitude of some of you who are suffering with the stutter.

I hope that you're not making generalisations about other skoda owners and saying that everybody is affected etc. Or deliberately trying to put new buyers off by making it seem as though they will definitely be affected.

I'm still driving an 06 Fabia vrs with no noticeable problems and I don't want my vehicle to start gaining a reputation for being faulty when it isn't.

I've got an 06 vrs and although I have noticed the stutter on a couple of occasions is probably only because I read about it on here.

Must vary from car to car is it certainly isn't a big problem to me.

I had a demo for the day a couple of months back, it was an '06 vRS with 1100miles on it. I did 180miles while i had it and it didn't suffer from any stutter what so ever...

In answer to your questions....

I have told the Dealer who had denied knowledge of anything being reported to them by Skoda UK, I told them what was required and so they have taken the readings and sent them to HQ.

Skoda UK have acknowledged the stutter and have been very helpful apart from the inconsistency of whether a fix is available.

I havn't rejected the car but that doesn't mean I won't be pleased when a fix is offered. It doesn't get me down as much as others with the same problem but I am willing to offer any support if somebody wants back up for magazines or TG etc.

Still absolutely loving the car and finding any excuse to getting out in it

my 06 vrs is absolutley fine and dandy.

people should have far more things to worry about than a rare stutter they have on their cars. Some of the people in here have bad attitudes and are going about things in the wrong way. There's people getting killed each day and they complain about this!! what a joke!:thumbdwn:

I have driven many cars of all types and the Skoda fabia VRS is one of the best cars I have driven. Skoda have no doubt turned the corner after VW have taken them over.

PLEASE remember AUDI , VW and Seat 1.9tdi 130 engines have the same issue not just Skoda as far as I'm aware.

I love my 06 VRS I hope you do too!

Skoda have issued a bulletin to dealers on thier system telling them the problem is under investigation.

And as far as im aware I think its only SEAT and Skoda using the BLT engine.

I really have no idea why my Dealer was saying they hadn't heard of it. They are out in the sticks though ;) They were very helpful in the end, and even put that annoying locking beep on my car for free :D

All the Dealers know of the problem as they have had countless phone calls from P*ssed off owners who are suffering badly but if some of them choose to deny it exists that is their choice, my dealer at least admits it is a big problem with the 06 vRS but there is nothing he can do without help from Skoda, i still like the car, even with the stutter it is streets ahead of the Crappy renault i used to own.
